This place is pure insanity.

Vendors EVERYWHERE. You can get pretty much whatever you like...ironically except for liquor. Lots of food options too.

Never felt uncomfortable as an American tourist.

This place is amazing. I had to get used to the hours of operation as some places have weird open & close days & times.
I saw this place on a YouTube video and knew that I had to go.

Nice market place n people too. I don't know Spanish but I bought lots off handcrafted stuff because of the people there as they are so interested to talk to me(using Google translator). This market changed my perception about Mexico what I heard from people, it is so safe, no cheating n helping people. We have public transport too as taxi is little expensive for short travels.

Biggest indoor market in Guadalajara maybe even the world. They specialize in knockoff items some of which are reasonable quality. They had a whole area full of Jordan's and designer bags. It's really easy to get lost in this place. The food area is huge with all sorts of street food. A word of cation do not wear any gold or jewelry and make sure you keep you wallet and phones in your front pockets. This place has a pickpocket reputation. We did not have any issues but we were warned.

We bought lots of souvenirs and gifts here. The prices were quite reasonable and you could also haggle if you buy several things and ask nicely.

The people there were very sweet and willing to help. One lady at one of the places there asked what we were looking for in fluent English. Maybe we looked lost. We told her we were looking for hand made souvenirs and she kindly explained where to go.

Cash is definitely the king here. Some vendors do accept credit cards but they often charge you a fee and you wouldn't be in a good position to haggle at that point.

The market could look a bit intimidating to North Americans but once you are in there you will quickly realize that this is a place where a bunch of hard working people are trying to make an honest living. Be polite and use common sense to be aware of your surroundings, and you will have lots of fun shopping and eating.

Absolutely gigantic market with a great selection of produce. Most importantly, monster tortas from competing stands on the bottom deck. Most people only order a half, but I was inclined to eat the whole thing a few times. Carrots and peppers as a garnish. Can get a bit messy, but it's worth eating quickly while the bread is hot and crispy. Dozens of fresh tortas constantly sizzling on the surrounding grills.
