Tropical Diner

I recently tried the ackee and saltfish with plantains and fried dumpling at Tropical Diner, and it transported me straight to my Jamaican mom's kitchen! The flavors were spot-on, reminding me of the authentic taste I grew up with.

The customer service was exceptional – friendly and professional. The staff ensured a quick service without compromising on the freshness and deliciousness of the food. I left with a satisfied palate and a promise to return. Tropical Diner is now my go-to spot for a taste of Jamaica. Highly recommend!

I'm really glad I chose this place for lunch today! Everyone was warm and welcoming. I ordered the Jerk chicken and a half n half plate of curry chicken and brown stew chicken and the roti skin. Everything was cooked perfectly, the bones were soft and the marrow was delicious. And, they didn't skimp on the gravy! Texture was smooth and consistency was the perfect thickness. They don't make anything spicy unless it's cook to order but they do have Scotch bonnet sauce if you like. And the lady who served me was nice enough to give me a baby red Scotch bonnet pepper to eat with my food! Brought my extra food home and the family loved it as well!
Can't wait to visit on a Sunday for the buffet!

My family and I walked in just about an hour til closing. They took our order with no issue and let me tell you. Phenomenal! Normally when eating at restaurants close to closing, the food is cold or stale. I swear they made it when we ordered! Hot, fresh, and seasoned extremely well! New weekly spot for sure!

I would never eat here again! I would never ever recommend this place to anyone in Houston or surrounding areas. I purchased an oxtail plate for $28. Upon receiving the food noticed that the oxtails had an extreme amount of fat on the oxtails. I started to eat the food and noticed that there was some type of fly or nat in the oxtail gravy. I Called establishment to share my experience and they stayed they were not interested in replacing the food or making the situation better. I was very shocked and I asked again to make sure I heard them correctly. Sure enough they said THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED IN MAKING THIS SITUATION BETTER!!

Food was absolutely amazing,smelled great looked awesome and tasted even better! Should have got coco bread too...only regret....will b back soon!
Recommendation...get there today!

12/17/23 They never cease to amaze me!!!! Family and I stopped in for the buffet and it was absolutely amazing 🤩. We were so full we could barely walk. Everything was tasty and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The service was on point too. I just love this restaurant. I wish I could eat there every day!

I and my wife ordered jerk chicken. It wasn't very tasty. Not seasoned very much and the chicken was a little dry. Rice and cabbage wasn't seasoned either. I know I won't be back.
