So beautifully crafted idols on the wall of temple is really masterpiece on it self ... And makes the temple so grand it self is really breathtaking.
According to mythology thrid eye of Devi sati fell to this place and known as one of the SHAKTI PEETHAS out of 51 Peeth.
Atmosphere of temple is very shrine and pious .
Surrounding and campus of temple is very clean and well maintained thanks to the management of temple .
Temple is dedicated to Mahalaxmi beautiful idol is there along with Saraswati ji.. Kali ji inside many more diety is there in premises.
The most prominent festival held at Mahalakshmi Temple, Kolhapur is the Kirnotsav (lit. festival of Sun Rays) festival. Kirnotsav festival is celebrated in the temple when the rays of the sun fall directly on the deity at the time of sunrise. It is said that the sun god pays his homage to Mahalakshmi Ambabai for three days in a year.

One should must visit temple which is so rich in culturally and architecturally have mind blowing history.
It's worth it...

The sacred place devoted to Mata Mahalaxmi at Kolhapur Maharashtra. Mind-blowing architecture of an ancient temple. No need to spend money for special darshan, in normal condition it takes 20 minutes for darshan.
Beware of frauds male /female inside and the premises area of the temple they speak Marathi language but basically from Karnataka. Must visit for darshan once

The temple has all the facilities for the devotees. There is a queue for darshan. Estimated time taken for darshan is 30 to 60 mins. The temple trust serves a free meal for all the devotees as maha prasad. The temple vicinity is well maintained by the trust and all the security majors are also installed.

One of the best religious places I have ever visited. One can get a glimpse of how rich our Indian culture is. I have always visited the temple whenever I am in Kolhapur. People come from far away places just to visit this temple. The Mahalakshmi temple is a 'Shakta' shrine, and it is one of the major 'ShaktiPeethas'. The temple got it's lost glory restored during the Maratha Empire reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. There are so many stories about the temple, and the beautiful stone architecture is truly mesmerizing! Must visit!
