Westgate carpark. Isn't there a road rule that is meant to prevent trucks travelling in the right lane? They obviously missed the memo and its never policed.

Slow from about 7-10 am and 4-7 pm most days. Beautiful view towards the bay, you can see ships docked at Port Melbourne (including, until recently, the Spirit of Tasmania) and across to St Kilda and Brighton. When on the eastern end of the bridge you can view the Westgate Park and its beautiful lakes.

Decent enough bridge in Melbourne. Not world stage icon status, but big enough to be noteworthy. Often closed at nightime for night time road works, but you never see any workers working on the bridge when the lanes are closed. Maybe they're working under the bridge? But then ther no work cars either. So quite perplexing.

A vital connection between Melbourne and the western suburbs like Geelong. Nice architecture and structure.

Not much to see. It's a bridge! But bathed in sun it looks fabulous

Great entrance to the city from the Western Suburbs, stunning view of the city skyline as well as the Princes Pier and the Tasmanian Ferry. Below it is a lake/pond that because of the algi turns a bright pink. This image was taken of the bridge across this pink pond
As expected, during peak hour or during road works the bridge can become the last place you want to be at. However, if you are stuck on this bridge during sunset or sunrise you will get one of the best views of Melbourne for sure. Here are some aerial shots of the West gate bridge on a nice sunny day.

Great bridge that provides a vital link between Melbourne's western suburbs and places like Geelong with the Central Business District and Melbourne's eastern suburbs however, even with five lanes of motor vehicle traffic in each direction, being one of the busiest roads in Australia, it is frequently congested during the morning and afternoon peaks so best to avoid it at these times.

At over 2.5 km it's twice as long as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and one of the highest bridges in Australia. Great views when driving over it.
