Katsuya

My friend and I went here to try some Asian food. The atmosphere was great, and the staff are super friendly. They first welcomed us with warm soup 🍲 and even refill it for us for free :)
The food itself was not that tasty. I was expecting something that has more unique taste but it was simply fried chicken with BBQ sauce that you can find in all supermarket. So I think they should improve their menu add more tasty and unique food that represents the culture.

It definitely was a good katsu place. The Katsu was crisp and well made. The vibe was low-key and chill. A good date environment especially during this holiday season.

The reason it lost the two stars cuz I found it to be a little too dry. My friend and I left feeling a little scratchy and sore in the throat after the meal. It really felt like it was scratching against the throat. I have had Katsu many times before but never had an experience like this. I wish they didn't charge so much extra for more sauce.

We went there at Christmas, which was fantastic; our first time, we tried all the delicious food and kind service. The pork was out of this planet, and the shrimp tartar was decent; the water has a fresh flavour, and you can feel a lot bit in Japan

Very crispy katsu. Pork is crispy outside soft inside. Carbonara sauce is a bit spicy but in a flavourful way. I would rather like it served separately so not to soften the crispy skin of the pork, just my opinion though.

I came here with my boyfriend on December 13th (~dinner time) and the place was very well decorated for the holidays. We ordered the Pork Katsu Original and Katsuya Udon. The Katsu was really good! The rice portion was quite small but they gave us extra for free when we asked. The Udon was not bad but not great. It tasted bland and the noodles were a bit too soggy for me. Overall, the food was good! However, the service was quite disappointing. The two servers were always talking amongst each other and to the chefs. They didn’t pay attention to us at all and they talked really loudly. We tried to go up to pay because they were so distracted. One server was especially rude but they were both i’ll mannered. They were saying Korean swear words like “shibal” and “sekki”. It was a bit appalling because there were kids. It was just very embarrassing as a Korean to witness that so publicly. On top of all this, their menu was very confusing, one server was telling us different information than the other server. I suggest them creating a separate menu for the downtown location since there were limited items.
