Sushi of Gari Tribeca

We sat in front of the Executive Chef and I thought "we got the top guy great!" Not so great. The system now is that you only talk to the waitress and not him. He doesn't smile and only talks to say the name of the fish that he is placing on your plate. In addition, they try too hard and add their own sauces and flavors to each piece, MANY times overwhelming the wonderful taste of the good fresh fish. We had the Omicasa with a fixed price and fixed # of items. Adding items at the end was difficult. Instead of asking for what we wanted form the chef, we had to tell the waitress how many pieces we wanted and let him again choose. 2 people 16 pieces no alcohol $400 plus tip. I think that I will go elsewhere from now on to a place where there is interaction with the Sushi Chef and no crazy sauces on every single piece!

Overpriced basic sushi, good service, nice polite staff. Ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, very small space. I remember when this place was open it was top-notch and I find the prices here very abusive. Paying for an antiquated name.

The sushi was basic. Nothing extraordinary. Atmosphere is ok. Service is excellent.

I dream about having this omakase again - truly fine dining. A lovely friend gave us a giftcard to Gari and it’s definitely been one of the most memorable experiences yet.

Sushi of gari has their own style of presenting foods or using various kinds of ingredients which escalates the quality of the dishes. Every fishes are so fresh, it gives you a big satisfaction when it gets into your mouth.
This tribeca location is the most recently renovated one, so that’s the other fun part to visit.
And you’ll meet the most amazing staffs who would make your experience even better.

This was a small busy sushi restaurant- I was quite surprised that the sushi omakase was generally bland and not memorable. The omakase consists of 12 prices of sushi - and if you’re sitting in general dining, and not at the sushi counter, it comes out 4 pieces at a time. The dishes just fell flat for the price - even the rice was cold by the time the dishes made their way to the table. The different tuna pieces were the best. Uni is included in the omakase. In a city with so many omakase options, this one was not memorable. The service was attentive, but all business. For the name and price, I expected better. Perhaps you have to stick with the upper east side location for good sushi.

Amazing omakase! This location never disappoints me and tastes amazing every time I go. The manager Jenny is always attentive and goes out of her way to accommodate us since we have a baby. The staff is always nice. Chef koichiro and chef Peng are both amazing. My favorite is the tuna with tofu paste and chili sauce.

Had the privilege is enjoying this amazing Omakase. Each piece was perfectly prepared and presented. We especially loved the medium fatty tuna. The way it melted in your mouth leaving this amazing umami flavor left me craving for seconds.
Dessert was a red bean fish also excellent.
