Simply amazing
The Column of Peace is located right in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Built in 1614 by Carlo Maderno it was commissioned by Pope Paul V Borghese.

Column of Peace is located just outside the Basilica of Santa Maria.
Beautiful column.
This is the only one left from 8 columns of the "Temple of Peace" (Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine). Erected here in 1614 by Carlo Maderna, it is crowned with a bronze statue of Mary, by the sculptor Berthelot. The base is decorated with the coat of arms of the Borghese family: eagles and dragons.
