to be honest my mom has been there since last april . honestly i hate it . many times u try to call u can never get through. alwwys short staffed. some of the aides very lazy. moms floor in her room alwaya looks dirty that at one point i took a wet towel and did floor myself. the food thier is always same 🤮🤮 its disgusting. they need a new chef and better menu . thier are some workers there that are sweet and passionate like kevin, rick, on the 3rd floor and i alexis was always great with my mom. some these aids look so miserable and have no patience to do thier job. one girl the other day i seen her literally dragging her patient to bed ..i was so pissed when i seen this. if u dont have patience to work with elderly stay home.

My mother was there and had end stage lung cancer, and if she would ring for the nurses to help her, either they didn’t answer or they took a very long time to go to her and she felt they basically ignored her. I know when we would call the floor to inquire how she was doing, Either they did not pick up the phone or would give a one-word answer on her condition and proceeded to tell me that they were too busy to talk but yet I wonder what they were busy doing because my mother did not get the compassion that a person with End-stage cancer should have gotten.

Dad is long-term resident. This place is a garbage fire. They’re short staffed. The nurses are brain dead. My dad’s Foley catheter is rarely changed which leads to frequent trips to the emergency room in sepsis secondary to urinary infection. They have no issue taking a huge portion of his pension and social security checks. And yet, the care is trash. Call bells are never answered. One of his nurses just yells at him. I caught wind of it while I was on the phone with him. Im not sure how they’re able to call themselves a “skilled nursing facility” when everyone employed there must’ve gotten their nursing licenses on Amazon. I have 0 good things to say about Carmel Richmond.

I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who was involved in my mother’s care. She was in the room 244 and all nurses and assistants, and physical therapists, and everyone else have been very kind and helpful, and understanding during her rehab stay. Your institution is unique in its compassion for its residents.
I would recommend your institution to anyone who will need rehabilitation care.

Before my Spinal surgery, I was given a list of rehab centers to research. I did my homework and chose Carmel Richmond. This rehab is one of the best in New York. Physical Therapists and Occupational therapists are people who work with you diligently. These professionals give all they have to the patient! You receive therapy 5 days a week for about 2 hours each day! The care I received there was one of excellence. The nurses, nurses aids and all staff members were so great and understanding. I even got to visit with some of the Carmel Nuns, Sister Mary Ann and Sister Patricia who made my time at Camel so much comforting!
If you are looking for a good rehabilitation center this is the PLACE! I highly recommend it and personally give it (5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

It has been a couple of years since my husband was at Carmel for short term rehab. Our experience as both the patient and family was by far, the best on SI. The staff, at every level was compassionate, caring and professional. I thought I wrote a review a long time ago, but apparently did not. We will be needing another short term rehab. He could not go here last year when it was needed, since they did not have dialysis on premises. I hope dialysis is either now available on site, or for this to be arranged in the relatively near future.

I would not recommend this facility. Patients are not closely monitored. My husband died of severe septic shock which could have been avoidable.

Sheer negligence and the attending doctor on the second floor is far from smart.

On the day my husband was found unresponsive, they were going to take him to Staten Island University Hospital and I happened to visit early. I had no call to inform me and whoever claimed they left a message for me was a fat liar and an outright lie.

That’s a lot of crock.
