Nice big lighthouse

Amazing view of this from the beach. Beautiful walk to get to it as well.

Recommend visiting if in the area.

Great place to visit on a nice sunny day

Was certainly a bracing walk out along to this lighthouse today, barely a handful of folk braving it in the biting cold wind. Worth it for the views of all Scarborough and its harbour has to offer, from the Grand Hotel to the Castle and to St Mary's. There is also the graceful Diving Belle sculpture here at the foot of the lighthouse, facing out to sea. She is one of a pair of sculptures, the other partner one is over on North Bay and is called the Bathing Belle. You also have the 1914 Vickers gun here close to the lighthouse. The gun was raised in 1982 from the S S Hornsund wreck which was torpedoed on 23 September 1917. Lighthouse was not open when I visited.
