Smells, filthy open drains , dogs and cats everywhere, hate to think about the vermin. It it was in any Western country, satitation/health officials would have it closed immediately. Vegetables are generally past their sell by, old and often rotting even when newly arrived. Cabages are peeled to romove outer rooting leaves, cauliflowers heads are covered in black, onions often soft and sprouting, bell pepers sofft crincled skin and starting to rot. Even potatoes and carrots can be half rotton. Also very expensive, same or more expensive than European prices, but nowhere close the the quality of what you get in Europe or other Asian countries.
Pork and chicken, the main meats are displayed in the heat with flies. Customers handling and replacing , nothing covering to prevent things from dropping on it. Meat is cut on the same chopping boards and with the same knives and clevers of both meats and not cleaned between. I dont eat seafood, so I can’t comment, but it looks just like the same practices as the butchers.
Unfortunately, businesses and people in Coron appear to have very little alternatives.

It’s a good market to find fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and local candies. Not your usual tourist place but it is to be expected. Highly recommend going to front shops where they make homemade sticky rice desserts. I believe it’s called Zumont, white rice with coconut is my favorite but the brown rice with brown sugar is also good.

The sellers are open for bargains. We saved over 100s. We went there for dried goods. Going there will exposed you to open sun but our tricycle driver insisted that he wait for us.

Need a much cleaner and well lighted public market. The produce area leaves much to be desired. Now that tourists are coming back the Mayor's office should prioritize this area specially the road leading to the market. The vendors and stall owners though are very friendly and accommodating.

From day 1 of our coron tour, this has been our drop off before boarding the boats. They do have water refills which costs 20pesos if im correct, which is a life hack when it comes to saving money because a liter of water will cost you 50 pesos at the dock and aboard the boats, it will cost you a hundred pesos. There are also aqua shoes for rent and other island hopping and diving gears available for rent here.

Coron is a FIRST class municipality that receives a lot of both domestic and international tourists. Considered as the world's best island (or one of) and one of the country's showcase to the outside world, Coron visitors and most eapecially the locals deserves a much better PUBLIC market. One with good lighting, better water and sanitation facilities, paved road, plants, trees, etc., a much better one.
EVERY rainy season cars, tricycles, motorcycles and pedestrians have to traverse the big brown water-filled moon-like crater potholes to get to the market. It's a vicious cycle.
