Mediocre breakfast spot. The homemade sausage isn't good. Two words for y'all: Jimmy Dean. Get it. My bacon was burnt. I've had better waffles. Their pancakes aren't even good. It also took a while for the waitress to come to our table. This was my first bad breakfast experience. Very disappointed. Don't waste your money.
Came in and the host was friendly and seated us immediately as there was no wait.
Our waitress was nice and patient since it was our first time here. I ordered the works 3 pancakes, scrambled eggs w cheese, home potatoes, and turkey sausage.
Home potatoes are bad. No flavor at all. I never put salt on anything but had to use a generous amount and still didn't like them. The pancakes were really good. Turkey sausage....I don't think were turkey. Eggs were pretty good.
I don't eat bacon but my family said it wasn't good and it looks overcooked. The chicken that came with the chicken and waffles are tenders which is fine, but didn't look cooked well. Overall, I might come back and just get pancakes or just waffles without a side. They have many menu options but I'd rather not take the chance of trying them.

Disappointed. This has been our go-to family place, but today our young-adult kids went on their own. Oneof their party ordered pancakes and another ordered a dish that included pancakes, but the table was only brought one plate of pancakes. Were they intended to share? Was a plate forgotten? Odd.
One guest was admonished for not writing in a large enough tip. After she wrote in the tip, the check was returned with the tip ‘suggestions’ circled, and she was told, “I don’t think you understand; these are your options.” No, you don’t have to tip any amount. And it was wrong for their server to tell them that.
They were also rushed out right at the “closing time.” Nope. Diners can sit and enjoy their food. They should not be encouraged to vacate so staff can go home. Nope, nope, nope.

I never write reviews but I feel like I need to warn people about our experience. We have been to the original pancake house multiple times but we will never go back after our last meal. Each time the food and service has gone down. This last time the food was inedible and caused food poisoning to someone in our party. We ordered the Pancakes and they were flavorless. The 49 flapjacks were so thin we thought they gave us crepes instead of pancakes. The worst was the crab cake Benedict. The crab was freezing cold and was flavorless. It was not cooked. This caused food poisoning to our friend. We informed the server and manager and the manager response was “I’m sorry the crab cake was cold, it’s not suppose to be like that”. He didn’t comp the meal or take that item off the check. They didn’t even offer to remake the food. The place has gone down hill and I wish I could give it zero stars.
This is my second time visiting the Original Pancake House.
The first time the service wasn't the greatest, and we were outside.
The weather is a bit more chilly now, so when trying it this time we made sure we stayed inside.
Walking in, my friends and I were greeted immediately and were seated. The inside was much like a laid-back diner. Our server, Alem came and was the sweetest.
My friends started with tea and I got orange juice. I just want to say this orange juice is freshly squeezed and it was sooooo good. I also want to pre-warn you all that there isn't any champagne here for mimosas.
Onto the food, I ordered the special Apple oven-baked pancakes in the regular portion. Now, before I ordered them, Alem did warn me that they weren't typical pancakes. I was willing to try something new.
When they came I was like wow. It was a big portion, and I mean BIG. It was very warm and the dish looked like a dessert. The apples were very good and as warm as they looked (maybe even warmer). You have to dig to get to the pancake portion, and my first time, It did taste different, a bit softer than I'm used to, but then I felt like I was going to like it. I was wrong. It has an acquired taste and it's very sweet. The portion is definitely made for two people. My side of bacon helped balance out the sweetness. Alem asked for my feedback and was very apologetic when I told her I didn't like it.
Overall the original pancake house is good for a non-brunch-like party environment. It's good for children as well. If you go, ask for Alem her service was great! It did help since the service last time wasn't that great. The pricing was pretty cheap as well, as for the 4 of us, it was about $22 Per person, in which there was an inflation few there.

It's the best option for a traditional American breakfast. Omelets and pancakes are really good. The potatoes could be better.
Amazing breakfast food. I have not had a bad thing there and the prices are affordable too! Parking is free if you get into the Bethesda Place parking garage. You just need to scan your ticket at the restaurant.
