It's free and quiet. Great place to take your dog for a walk. The trails are covered in cinder so even when it has been raining, you can still go for a walk without getting muddy.

mainloopandblueheron. Difficult bike and run ing weeds very high and trails very unkept not like it use to be..big hole end ofpong looking towards free with egrets nest.😞

As a local (5 min drive) I try to go here as often as possible... with multiple trails and loops to create the min/max of miles for yourself is awesome. It's mostly flat so great for biking or training on running... however... more often than not when I arrive the paths are NOT taken care of. Sometimes you cant even tell the different of where the path is or not because of how overgrown it is. Last time I went I just left, I couldn't take it. I felt like I was talking through the woods, just unbearable. And the look out pavilions? forget about it... there are 2 but there is NO way youre getting to either of them without a machete. Such a shame, lovely spot, but in the last 2 years I feel there has been no grounds keeping at all. It could be a great place for families and school/daycares to take trips to, but I would fear you would lose a child in the overgrown, underkept trails.

I love this place. It's a great walk and people are generally respectful. Occasionally you will see an off leash dog. There is a porta potty there so you can go the bathroom if you have to. In the spring. You can hear lots of frogs and see birds migrating. In the fall, there are thousands of beautiful wildflowers.

def bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen. I took the photo of the turtle - his name is Bob. I honestly can't tell if he's an older bog turtle or nicest, cutest adolescent snapper I ever met. if you see Bob he's one of the more friendly wild turts I've run into, so definitely stop and say hello :)
(btw -NEVER pick up turtles if you don't know what you're doing. snappers can take off a finger if you don't do it correctly. I've kept turts my entire life so I've got experience identifying and working with them.)

Beautiful and secluded walking. We saw others but only 2 couples. Different paths for options. Nice wildflowers were in bloom.

Peaceful, calming place to walk. Bring a hat there’s no shade.
