Nice gift shop to check out some souvenirs, hoodies, shirts, jewelry, themed dinner sets etc. We got a Van Gogh Collection Magnet and a decorative item.

I was underwhelmed. Hoodies, t shirts, and Karl Lagerfeld dolls? I believe they could do a better job at offering a nicer selection at one of the finest museums in the world.

Extortionate prices, for example it's $40 for a plain tote bag with the MET logo on it. Daylight robbery

The MET museum store sells books, T-shirts, cups, plates, jewelries etc. You can buy many NYC souvenir. There is also a MET membership discount.

I've been to this museum and have always enjoyed the gift shop. However, although it's always been overpriced it is now so overpriced it takes any joy out of looking and finding something. They need a reality check with what people are willing to pay for things.

I have been a long time customer of the Met Museum Store. Last year I ordered the Venus Pearl jewelry Cuff, wore it no more than 5 times for a few hours each time and the black pearl came off the end and was lost. Warning--The Met Museum Store will not stand behind a product that they sold you more than 180 days ago. The cuff cost over $100 with taxes and shipping. Needless to say, given how little I wore the bracelet, I am extremely disappointed in 1) the quality of the merchandise and 2) the very uncaring attitude of both the customer service clerk, Naidene and her supervisor, Josiah, to stand behind the quality of the Met Museum products. What a contrast to local, reputable jewelry stores! Think carefully if want to sacrifice reputable business practices for on-line convenience when you order from the Met Museum Store.

Update to this post:

A couple days after this post I received an email that they had found my original order of three boxes at one of the warehouses and were shipping them to me at no charge, not for the cards nor the shipping. I modifed this rating to reflect the original and the update. I am appreciative of their efforts to find my original order. However they arrived after I had left for a week and sat on my doorstep for that time. I had to order other cards.
BUT I will use these next year!

Original post: The day I ordered 3 boxes of Christmas cards on 12/9 and was told they were "in stock". I called on 12/18 to find out why I had
seen nothing about when I would receive them. I was told that they weren't in stock! WHAT???? I was told they were not in the warehouse. I was never contacted about this, and if I hadn't called I would still not know.

I asked to pick another card and have it sent to me at no cost to me for the delivery NOR the cards. Clearly I was misinformed originally and not contacted that I would not be receiving them, I had to make the phone call to find out. I was told that they would continue to look in the warehouse for my original order, or I could order a new set and pay for them, only the shipping would be waived for cards I really didn't even want. I asked when I could expect to hear something about the warehouse and was told they could not tell me.

Needless to say I AM LIVID! AND extremely disappointed in doing business with this company. It has now been 3 days and I still have not heard anything from them.

Don't trust any order from them.

I ordered 2 ornaments for Christmas. Site says delivery is 3-6 days. It was sent smart-post and will not be delivered in 3-6 days. Now delivery will be in 10 days and will not be in time to use as a Christmas gift as planned. The Met staff was not helpful and told me it isn't their fault the carriers are not delivering as scheduled. They have no idea what the carriers are doing?? It isn't their fault their website advertises 3-6 days but does not actually have any idea when it will arrive at all. This is ridiculous and the information on their website is UNTRUE It will not be delivered in 3-6 days So DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM IF YOU NEED THE ITEMS DELIVERED ON TIME AS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON APPARENTLY. When I contacted them I was told if I refuse the delivery I will receive a full refund in about a week. I hope this is true as I now have to go make other arrangements for Christmas. Very Disappointed!
