Course was in decent shape, few holes with blind tee shots, it was challenging with the rain and staff was friendly except the starter. Very rude and unpleasant.

Is a good course for the price. Is kept in good shape, but often times is a slow round since a lot of people play there. Staff is friendly. Do not try to retrieve your ball from out of bounds areas. I unfortunately got poison ivy in my legs and arms but it is my own fault and it is marked out of bounds for a reason. In the summer it is really buggy so I would recommend bringing lots of bug spray.

No driving range, so no surprise that people don't want to show up well ahead of their tee times. Very tight fairways typically lined with trees/woods/tall fescue, high rough. Many blind tee boxes, meaning without a forecaddy, there will be many lost balls that might normally be found if you could see the landing area. Which means more time wasted searching for balls. Grass isn't cut short enough on tee boxes, meaning even teed balls can have some grass come between club and ball, potentially creating fliers on irons, or some drag on driver swings. Tees aren't all on flat ground (gold at least), so repeatedly I had to search around for a flatter area to stand and without grass interfering. Rough is erratic, had a couple balls come to rest in some sort of grown-over but unrepaired mini-gullies near greens. Saw another player nearly fall stepping into a depression just off a green. Fairway grass isn't always in great shape either, had a couple of bad lies in the fairway, not in divots, just fairway not in good shape, which is hard to swallow given how tough it is to even stay in the narrow fairways. Greens were nothing special fairly small but flattish, but there were variations in speed among them. Mostly slow but a couple seemed randomly faster. No water fountains/machines on the course, just one rickety vending machine next to the one bathroom. Starter was cranky as previously reported by others. Advice for management - if they want to keep the golfers flowing through the course in under 4.5hours, cut the fescue, cut the rough/trash areas down to a level where people can find their balls without standing right on top of them. The number of trees already protect the course adequately. Photos/diagrams of the hole at the tee box would help golfers better guess where the hole/landing zone is. Maybe also reduce the number of groups who accidentally get hit into on the other side of the hill from the tee.

Moderately interesting course 7-8/10 (17th is beautiful), great greens 9/10, tee box condition 6/10 (playable), pace of play 7/10 (pretty average), staff: this is the only reason I'm writing this review, gentleman in the shop was friendly, but the starter (Bill? I'm assuming because of the numerous reviews referring to him), is absolutely miserable. He had a terrible attitude, berated everyone who wasn't 10 minutes early for their tee time and was completely unpleasant to anyone else. Why he hasn't been fired after numerous reviews about him is beyond me. Bill is the only reason to avoid this course, otherwise great golf course.

Only played there twice and both times two different starters had an attitude like they were doing you some big favor. Sorry, last time I checked I pay for a county card and greens fees. Left after 9 holes because pace of play was looking like around a 5 hr round. Course itself can be fun and its pretty unique but stay away unless there's no other options. Time would be better spent at the range practicing instead of waiting around for 15 minutes between holes.

I have really enjoyed this course, albeit I have always gone midweek. The course is tight, challenging, but not tricky. Layout is traditional with lots of elevation changes. Overall a nice course (except for the weird last two holes which seem like an add-on). Rocky in parts - so check the ground before swinging in the far rough. Maintenance is good (greens and fairways in good shape) and pace of play fine. I don't understand why this course is so poorly rated compared to other Somerset County courses.

Decent for a quick round of golf. Heavily wooded. Greens were in good shape, fairways were ok. Staff were very nice.
