Queens Historical Society

We had a great experience at the museum. The current exhibit offers a fascinating look into early Queens history. They have a photo exhibit showing rural Queens prior to city streets and urban expansion. Seeing farms and homesteads in Queens was very interesting and much different than the modern city. The building itself is something to see as it's one of the oldest in America and also native to Queens. Overall QHS is a must-see museum for anyone interested in local or urban history.

Giving socially distant tours of the Kingsland Homestead. Our tour guide Jaren was super knowledgeable and couldn't be any nicer. The tour is for a half hour only because of covid rules. I felt like I stepped back in time. You could almost feel the spirits of those that have lived there before. The Weeping Beech trees are just magnificent to see. Quite a treat and only a 5 minute drive.

Both the changing exhibits and the house itself are well worth seeing. In addition, Queens Historical Society offers walking tours, in-house film screenings, and seminars on a variety of very informative Queens-related subjects. It’s quite easy to reach by train (#7 line). Worth the trip!

Dedicated staff puts on an innovative series of exhibitions and programming. Always something new to see here!

We went today, and the museum was supposed to be open, but we were imformed that the museum was closed because the "docent was not there." Why couldn't they have posted this information on their website? It is inconsiderate and disrespectful for this place to promote themselves through NYC media and then turn away the visitors.

A museum and a historical center, it's the perfect place to learn more about Queens as well as learn about the family that occupied the home!

Please keep in mind that this is a small museum, so unlike the larger museums, there are a limited number of staff. I would like to give a huge shoutout to all the amazing staff there who work tirelessly to keep the museum open and running.

Underrated museum located in Flushing. There is so much history here and much to learn!
