Parking lot is REALLY small. Maybe 3 cars can fit. I took the yellow trail, which went to the blue: took a right then hit the red trail. Went in a big circle. 1.3 miles ish. Saw many wildlife. Very peaceful. Yellow trail has a decline and red trail is a incline; the way I went: Trees are pretty well marked; did see green and orange mark trees as well( not on trail map though)

Carlstrom Forest is a nice spot to walk in the town of Shrewsbury. There is about 5 trails that go through the woods here and you can make a loop like I did when I visited. The parking area on Gulf Street is small but there is overflow parking allowed along nearby Wheelock Street. Along the trails folks have placed colored and painted rocks here and there, I believe it is encouraged. I recommend this forest if you want a nice peaceful jaunt in the woods, only the distant traffic sounds from Rt. 290 can be heard. There's a brook that flows through the forest and there is also a small pond or pool to explore.

Secluded area, trails are well paved. I would have liked it to be a bit more scenic but there was a stream which was nice. Doesn't seem to have a lot of traffic since I was the only one there. Small area to park which may explain why. Pay attention to colors on the trees so you know you're following the same trail.

Limited parking .. that’s the only downside. However, that is obvious, given the place is right in the middle of the town. If you don’t have a map, you even won’t notice it.

Thanks again to the people and organization who is maintaining these nice trails which are well marked and easy for all ages.

I must say that people who are living in the vicinity, are having the blessings of the Mother Nature. This is a good way to remind us that everything exist together.

Update - 6/2/2022 once again took the red trail and had a good time with family. Relaxed morning walk on weekday.

An amazing magical fairy trail. Great place to go admire other people’s dogs if you don’t have one yourself, there are always cute dogs there. So many cute spots to explore! The red trail is a favourite of mine.
