The Northern Railway Station

If a zero would be available, this one will quickly get it. For what it takes, this is a bad joke, pics only demonstrate, if anyone wonders.

It's the biggest train station from Romania, but it doesn't mean it's the best. It also smells like urine and feces and it needs a huge improvement.
It's pretty much the place which links Bucharest to the entire railway system of Romania, which is the only positive aspect of it. When there'll be a big change, then this place will become a good one. I guess we'll also have to wait a few years, even decades for it to happen...

Initially, the railway seemed perplexing, but it proved to be a highly convenient means of traveling to and from the airport. I discovered that purchasing the ticket directly on the train was more convenient than doing so from the counter or machine. The ticket agent on trains will come by to check if you have a ticket or just buy one.

Additionally, seeking guidance from passengers was much simpler than trying to inquire with the counter staff about the appropriate train track from northern railway station. From the airport to Bucharest there is only one train. 🚊

While useful as a major transportation hub, Gara de Nord earns just 3 stars due to its dirty, rundown appearance and issues with homelessness. The crowds and dated interior create an undesirable atmosphere. However, it functions fine for catching a train or metro when needed. The sheer convenience of its location assists travelers, but the unpleasant setting holds it back. With some renovations and better upkeep, Gara de Nord could better serve Bucharest residents and visitors alike. For now, it’s merely mediocre.

A big old station but with all the amenities. Grocery store, coffee shops, bakeries, and the usual fast food joints. Toilets cost 2 lei to use and beware, they rarely have toilet paper so bring your own if required. Note international tickets can only be picked up at booth 1. Also there are 2 ticketing areas and only the one half way down the station does international tickets. Information booth seems to only speak French and Romanian

The architecture and the way it is organized could be much much improved, but unfortunately the people who manage it are politically appointed and that says a lot. An unkempt train station, unsanitary places, there are no orientation lines to the subway or buses, an infrastructure that has been deprioritized over time. Talkinh into account these aspects, set your expectations, but do not avoid traveling in Romania, there are so many beautiful places to visit and with beautiful people :)

There are alot of places to get food and drinks and even a supermarket. The information only spoke Romanian so they were not too much help. There are also alot of people who will help you but then they want you to buy something for them after.
