Too many wonderful things to say - this review is 24 years in the making: as member it’s a great deal, as a donor cool to have had my tea bar at the reopening gala, and a guest speaker at Bouquets to Art (gave a talk on how Western Tea helped create modern dating), the rotating exhibitions are 1st class and of course all this is in the heart of Golden Gate Park.

Free first Tuesdays for everyone!! I ended up paying for the fashioning San Francisco: a century of style. The exhibit was beautiful. I'm glad I got to see the Venus (Dior) dress in person. She was stunning.

I had a wonderful time at the de Young museum in San Francisco. The last time I went to the museum was in 2017 during my time as a student at San Francisco State. As a fellow patron of the arts and as an artist, I love to go in and look at the beautiful pieces of work and their rich history. I usually go towards impressionism and portraiture, but my favorite piece of work is the candy machine painting by Wayne Thiebaud. I can't wait to visit again and see what new exhibitions will be displayed.

The de Young Museum has wonderful exhibitions, an excellent cafe, terrific gift shops tor kids of all ages and fresh flowers in all of their bathrooms! My only complaint is if you are a visitor with a membership in another museum with reciprocity to get “ free admission”, make sure you find out what’s included and excluded! Don’t assume anything and ask lots of questions when getting your tickets.

Got to Music Concourse parking about 10:30am. Parked close to the entry 👍🏼
Entered museum 20 minutes later...after pics by fountain, enjoyed the sunshine for a minute.
Wandered through all the exhibits. Enjoyed the couture fashion, abstract paintings, and ancient carvings. Not a lot of people we got around fairly easy. Wished I had my mask several folks were coughing out loud... not covering their mouths 😒. Spent 3 hours delighting the eyes!

I highly recommend Tuesday mornings at the DeYoung. Most galleries were only occupied by myself and museum staff. Which is a lovely way to experience such a esteemed collection. I was also impressed how many new works were included since my last visit. Many by local artist or depictions of local vistas. It is wonderful to see they have made the museum accessible to the whole local community by making it free on Saturdays. I’m not sure how they’re pulling that off financially, but I’ll be continuing to renew my membership to support this.

This is such a fun museum and for Bay Area residents it’s free every Saturday!

I came for the “De Young” Open 2023 art exhibition which featured hundreds of Bay Area artists. It’s a huge exhibition with different themed room and areas. My friend has his art up there, so I came to support. I love all the variety and levels of creativity. It’s such a fun museum! I’ve been here a few times and highly recommend it.

It’s also smack in the middle of Golden Gate Park, so it’s easy to make it a whole day activity since there’s so much to see and do around. You gotta check it out!
