Denied access at Monkstown Rd due to adjoining house developers blocking of main entrance & carpark. Hundreds of young trees cut down to facilitate installation of what looks like a sewage pumping outlet right down to the main river running through the woods.
Disgraceful whoever allowed planning permission for this & more so given Woodland Trust ethos of preservation & reinvestment of our woodlands.

Great place for a relaxing stroll or to take the dog. It's hard to believe your in the middle of Monkstown as it is so peaceful. If you follow the path it then takes you into Glen Park also which has a beautiful viaduct. Perfect for prams.

Monkstown Wood is a pretty good venue for a short walk. It takes in river walks, differing woodland environments and a range of wildlife. It's also worth taking a look at the Viaducts at the lower end of the walk.

A little gem hidden in the middle of suburban sprawl. You can get right down to Jordanstown and the shore. From there on round to Hazelbank and from there the whole way to Groomsport via the costal path, passing through Belfast, Holywood and Bangor.
