This is a small museum that highlights the beautiful artwork and design of the students who attend FIT. It’s a wonderful space and the fact that it is free is a rarity in NYC! It’s a wonderful spot to admire the work that is going on, especially the designs that reflect social justice and environmental issues. It was wonderful to see those ideas built into fashion and artwork. Give yourself an hour (or less) to see these creations and exhale a bit from the bustle of the city.

This is FIT's fashion design and construction museum in Chelsea. It's open on weekends (starting on Thurs), and has free entry.

The exhibits vary and change often.

Re: May exhibit
The museum is tastefully curated with designers through the ages. They even have Anne Lowe and one of her debutante ball gowns on display! She designed dresses for *First Lady Jackie O Kennedy* and other socialites, and it's easy to see why. See the stunning white gown embellished with white appliques in the pictures attached.

The environment is low-lit and has cool temperatures to preserve the integrity of the materials. *Flash photography is also prohibited for this reason.*

Re: May exhibit
Enjoy the intricate details, flounces, sequins, and drapery constructed meticulously from fine fabrics and more modern materials like denim. The garments are accompanied by placards with info about the designers and their sensibilities.

You can easily spend about 20 mins (to an hour, depending on the exhibit) viewing the 2 galleries (even more if you're a design aficionado!). The museum is situated on Fashion Institute of Technology's college campus, a corner of Chelsea with stylish flair.

No luggage, food, beverages, videos, or flash photography allowed.

They did a great job of curating Hip Hop fashion. The museum is small but it was organized and free. I highly recommend this exhibition. It’s on until May 2023

Nice small museum and not crowded. Interesting exhibits with literal and recorded commentary. Loved the hip-hop feature downstairs. Bonus that I wasn't expecting.

Free! A visit to this museum is a no-brainer. History buffs and fashion folks alike would both enjoy this museum. I would say if you're not reading and listening to all the exhibits, you can breeze through in an hour. Right now, it's showing 50 Year of Hip Hop. A great walk down memory lane for those that lived through some of these fun (and sometimes tragic) trends.

I attended the Fresh Fly Fabulous 50yrs of Hip Hop Style exhibit. AMAZING and very well curated!!! Will definitely go again! Describing this exhibit in words is an understatement. Just go and support Black fashion!

The Fashion Institute of Technology public space is split in to 2 sections. There is a museum at the Goodman Center and across the street, there is an Art and Design Gallery at the Pomerantz Center Main Lobby.

The Art and Design Gallery features art pieces from students that are graduating or close to graduation. These show a very modern take on the world of Art and I highly recommend. It's like going in to the contemporary art museum and seeing the cutting edge of what students today are thinking. Very unique and beautiful pieces.

On the flip side the museum instead showcases the history of fashion throughout the years. This is a dimly lit space that makes picking out find colors and detail very difficult.

Both are definitely worth a visit considering they're both FREE.
