02/24/24 - Wide path, well marked former road grade trail, easy grade, that follows the West Prong Little Pigeon River before turning east into the Bullhead Branch stream valley and up a moderate grade gravel bed road. Unfortunately, recent storms have resulted in multiple tree blowdown along the trail making traversing the trail more of a challenge but not overly so. Still worth the hike up to the Rainbow Falls Trail.

Nice quiet trail this time of the year and it started to ❄️. On the drive up to Gatlinburg you can see the snow on the peaks,AMAZING.

Fallbreak time again. Heavy traffic but no hikers met on the trail. Hiked up by Old Sugarlands trail and down by Twomile Lead trail. The first part is along the creek, pretty and therapeutic and the second is a horse trail. Saw none though. Bear active area, lots of bear poops seen. Also saw several fall mushrooms: cauliflower mushroom and hen of the woods.

This is a great hike through the Smokies. We will be back in the winter to locate an old family cemetery of my wives family.

Beautiful, shockingly secluded trail. Only saw one other hiker in an hour+. Follows the stream through beautiful forest. Largely flat terrain, beautiful rhododendrons blooming when we were there in late June.

Also very beautiful. Especially when everything is blooming, but regardless it's very beautiful.

It's a beautiful trail that is not overly difficult like many others. It follows a Creek mostly. It can be accessed near the Sugarlands visitor center or from the parking lot by Rainbow Falls. It's 3.5 miles long but you don't have to hike it all if you don't want. It was peaceful and beautiful and not many hikers. I saw two black bears chasing each other by the creek!
