Six50 Black Oven Cooking

We stopped in on our way home from seeing the Christmas lights for dinner. We ordered a large pretzel for our kids to share for dinner, chicken wings & a meatball sub. Not 5 minutes later, the waitress returned to let us know they were out of meatballs. Enter choice 2 for my husband. Then we waited for an hour & 15 minutes (mind you, the place was not full)! The waitress then returned to tell us that “we miscounted and don’t have a pretzel for you.” At this point, we decided waiting any longer was akin to torture & we decided to leave. They did offer to prepare the remainder of the meals to go, but let’s face it, chicken wings to go when we have to stop at another place to get dinner for the kids is not going to be a win.

Honestly, not sure how this place has lasted 11 years. The tables weren’t bussed, the service was slow and the pizzas slowly arriving to neighboring tables looked mediocre & we observed most were left untouched.

We are from out of town and were very excited to try out a new place! We ordered two pizzas, artichoke dip and cheese bread. We were told to pick it up in 20 minutes just to wait 30 minutes when we arrived. They also did not have the cheese bread. When we got back to the hotel to eat, the artichoke dip was like soup, and the pizza barely had any chicken on it. We were extremely disappointed as we were so excited! Therefore, we called and returned the food, which we never do. We felt horrible, but it was highly disappointing for the price. $90 for two pizza and two appetizers? Upon returning the food, we were highly disrespected by the owner. We tried to explain that this was our first time, and we were super excited, but nothing really had any flavor. The owner then proceeded to say that it was our first and will be our very last. He then stated that we were never welcomed on his property or at his establishment again. What kind of customer service is that? We don't mind paying the price if the food and experience are right. So, if you like to be disrespected and treated like garbage, then this is the "establishment" for you!

We were seated right away for a table for three and our waiter was Derek. Friendly and attentive server for sure. He was knowledgeable regarding the menu and beer selections. Pizza was tasty and served hot. Our salads were missing the balsamic glaze and Derek brought it right over for us to enjoy. A note on their menu mentioned staffing shortages and we were very pleased with the speedy and attentive service!!! This place is great!!!

I think for cocktails and pizza (since it’s a brick fire place) it would be the ideal. Our waiter (Derek) was great! Very nice and accommodating. He was def worth one of the stars. He could tell we were not happy with our orders and was able to take one order off.

However, we had an issue with the ribs. First, they came out cold which we asked to be re-heated and it took a fair amount of time at least 10 minutes. Also, when they say “zesty” they mean SPICY. It’s a build/stays in your mouth type of heat. They are also not “fall off the bone”.

So. Stick to pizza and drinks. The “meat” is not worth it.

Second time eating here and loved the food again! French onion soup had great flavors and lots of cheese. Kids mac and cheese and cheese pizza pictured below. About 3 kids could eat this pizza. Beef nachos had enough spice and fresh chips!

Really enjoyed the service, location and the food was great. The loaded nachos as an appetizer was awesome and 4 of us couldn't finish! The pizza was great, "individual" size was too big to finish, took it hinting and had ain't leftovers. Decent prices for pizza, apps, and drinks, but in my opinion the entrees are a bit expensive. Overall, would go back!

Food was good. We have eaten here a few times. Portions are obscene though. I ordered a meatball sub with side salad. The "side salad" was a 4" deep pile served on a 12" plate. Way too much. The sub was great, the garlic parmesan wings were good but nothing great. The service here needs work. We were seated and didn't see a waiter for 15 mins. Scratch that, we saw a lot of waiters, just none of them decided to stop by with water, etc. I could understand if the place was hoppin, but it wasn't. Overall 4 stars. Clean place, good food, just needs some work in the customer care department.
