Me and my girlfriend have been tent camping here for the past year or so. We absolutely love it, such a quiet little gem off the main road up in Farmington. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We will be coming here for years to come! 🏕️ 🪵 🔥
Beautiful area. The sites are so different in each of their own ways. One is around trees, like you have your own forest. Another one is right by a windy stream. Each are super big in size. You get the experience of camping.
Found this little gem a little while back. Me and my girlfriend stayed here last night at a tent site (A-3). We had a great time! Actually will be back next weekend also
Tent camped 4 nights, and while the grounds were beautiful, it was not what we expected from the description. The campground map was inaccurate. With the exception of the bathroom/paid shower at the entrance which you had to drive to from your site due to distance, all the bathrooms were closed with a port a potty in front of them. There was no water to clean dishes—- that required driving back to the entrance to wash in the bathroom sinks. Staff were friendly but not knowledgeable about the campground. Camp store closed during the hours we were told it was open. Very primitive. Never saw the game room that is listed on the site. Either the campground needs to be updated, or the website needs to be updated to manage expectations.
Tall Oaks is a wonderful place to be. I got a tent site and it was awesome. The electric worked great. The sites aren’t too close together. The showers are no more than a mile walk from any site. You definitely feel “ back in the woods” at tall oaks and it is so relaxing! Definitely recommend.
So, the grounds and location are great, and I'm sure the campground was very nice a long time ago, but it needs some work and attention. One flush bathroom under office with pay showers? I mean it's only $.50 to take a shower, but still a hassle. Went during rain, everything was muddy and wet, roads are rough, camp sites are pretty much a cleared area on a slope with a fire rink and a pretty crusty picnic table. Grass needed cut in our site.
I still recommend it, price is fair, staff was nice, prices are reasonable. I just hope the new owners are working to upgrade the facilities, and sites to make it better.

As an RV camper, this place is maybe a 2, and as a tent camper I'd say a 4, so went with a 3 star review. Very rough, and rugged area. RV sites have electric, and VERY rusty water. Dump station wasn't obtainable in the swampy area to drain. You're asked to take your garbage with you, however they do have 1 dumpster. The RV pads are huge stones that are horrible for walking or sitting by your rig. The employees were friendly as others have stated. They did have a VERY clean pay to use showerhuse. If you're looking for a nature getaway in a tent this is great! Largest variety of mushrooms I've ever seen.
