Mineral Park Campground

Mineral Park East campground, we got there in the dark and my flashlights were misplaced in the packing so I put the tent up totally in the dark by feel which I did without complaining! Spot number 8 was pretty nice.

The place was secluded, peaceful, and beutiful as advertised. However, they need to remove any reference to fishing and riverfront access anywhere near the site. It was one of the big reasons I chose the site. River side spots are fenced off because of 50' cliffs down to the river and no way to access it anywhere within 20 miles of the area.

This is a shockingly well developed camp ground for as remote as it seems. The campground is split into a west and east section without a connection between them so be aware of when you enter. There are compost toilets regularly placed as well. The creek provides consistent background white noise, and the the campground is perfect for anyone looking to do the Sahale Arm.

Very well-maintained camp sites with a small beautiful rock beach on the river that runs through camp. The only downside is it's very busy in August, and most sites are reservation-only. Many of the "non-reserveable" spots were somehow still reserved, making it very difficult to find drive-up spots. We stayed for three nights in a non-reservable spot, but during our stay we were notified that it had just been reserved and we unexpectedly had to move our camp for the last night. The park ranger was very nice and helpful, and helped us find a good spot down the road that had just opened up.

We tried to camp here on one of the first-come-first-serve days, but there were no vacancies when we arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday in early August. We had also checked Marble Creek campground on the way, but it was also full. We did manage to find a nice roadside spot right beside the campground and near the N Fork Cascade River. There are quite a few of these roadside spots, the last one being literally just in front of the sign marking the border of the entrance to the national park where roadside camping is not allowed. Sharing this just so you’re aware that you’ll probably have some options if the campgrounds are full when you arrive.

This campground was beautiful! However, when we booked our camp the map made it seem more private, but we ended up right off the road. Also the camp sites are small, our 8 person tent didn’t fit the space provided so it was an awkward fit. They should also tell people that if you plan to buy firewood from the camp host, it’s now $8 bundle and you have to stop at Marble Creek Campground on your way up to buy it. We lost a ton of time having to drive back down the mountain to get wood. It was also weird to have so many cars driving in really late at night. But again, totally beautiful, great for kids to explore and I would go back again.

Great campground—just be aware NO WATER, so bring your own. Nice sites nestled in amongst old growth with a beautiful river adjacent.
