The people at the Leal aid Society, were very helpful!

They left me and my daughter for dead I was living in a shelter that was violating my rights and allow me to live in inhumane conditions. Nothing was ever done at the beginning I was called then I missed Nycha meeting Which had nothing to do with me or my case And no one ever got back to me they wanted me to participate in a classification act Or wherever It’s called Today I am almost 6 months in my new apartment I have brand new lawyers now and I’m sueing dhs If you are homeless, And helpless don’t come here

Called Aug 28th. Got one miss call from them 2 weeks later, i called them back immediately only to be told I'm put at the end of the list n have to wait. We in the end of Oct smh n still no calls...

I recently interviewed at this office and I cannot stress enough what a horrible experience it was. I was placed in a hot office room and expected to endure 3 hours of testing with no air conditioning and a desk so low to the ground I had to hunch over to write anything. The worst part was they didn’t even think to look under the desk.. there were boxes stuffed underneath and I could not even stretch my legs during the 3 hour testing period. So imagine sitting there in a 90+ degree closed room, hunched over and unable to even stretch your legs forward as you take a 3 hour test. Unfathomable that a law firm would operate this way and treat someone like this.. A few words of advice.. Please put yourself in the place of someone interviewing there. First off, the neighborhood is not safe and there is no street parking so people coming there are paying to park, paying for gas, paying a cab or paying for bus/subway and then have to endure those types of interviewing conditions?!? Extremely callous and unprofessional. You expect so much from someone for such a low paying job, yet this is the first impression red carpet treatment you roll out for them? Inexcusable. No one in their right mind would work there and stay long term imo. A word of advice - Do unto others as you would like done unto you. The Golden Rule of life and business.

Its very hard to get a call back 😕 went in to get a divorce waiting haft a month to get a call back. Went through there intake only to be told I need to go get full custody of my daughter for them to help me. I have never heard that before. Smh I'm back to square one cause I know my ex is gonna fight me for shared custody.

Called legal aid to make an inquiry and was referred to another company who I can't ever find someone to speak with. Always put me on hold for ridiculous amount of time. They need to start having more in person interactions with clients. The phone thing is not working. Clients are getting short changed by not being able to get the help they desperately need myself included.

Since it's covid and I just spoke to someone yesterday after emailing a district council in the bronx a day ago got email from them an referred me to legal aid they have gotten back to me quickly but haven't actually spoke to a lawyer yet, it's to early, courts not till March, having trouble with a slum lord Benjamin that doesn't want to fix a roof that leaks every year and HPD doesn't put in the correct violations! Praying TO WIN THIS CASE WITH A good attorney! Update- had a great lawyer from legal aid and my slum landlord was forced to fix the leaking roof that kept damaging my apt.,we actually went back and forth to court 4 times because my landlord plays to many games and was not fixing the roof correctly that's why it kept leaking but it's fixed now once and for ALLLLL! UPDATE: So I thought it was fixed but it has been leaking (2021/2022) again will be back in court an hope to get another great lawyer so this landlord will have to fix these leaks plus other things as no intercom! Well didn't have to go to Court but a letter telling him that's where we'll end up if not fixed definitely worked and it was fixed AGAIN.
