We've adopted two cats from here over the last 20 years. One cat long, long ago and he was our whole world. He lived till be 18 years old. We waited 2 years to adopt again to let our hearts grieve that horrible loss. We walked into Irvine Animal shelter one day to just "look" and we fell in love with Stede (we call him Steady now). He took total control of our hearts the first day we saw him. He was recovering from a little mishap and being neutered. He had this big old cone on and wasn't even available for adoption yet. We didn't care, we were going to wait forever for him. We went every day to give him some love, praying and hoping we could adopt him. And we are so grateful we did. He is our best friend. We knew he wanted a little brother so we waited about 6 months and adopted Waffles (now called Jaxton) from Mission Viejo Animal Shelter. Those two are tied at the hip. They play and cuddle all day long. Thank you Irvine Animal Shelter for my best friend. We can't thank you all enough. Thank you Maria for all your help and all the staff. We are forever indebted to you.

If you want a pet, there is no better pet than a rescue 🛟. Don’t purchase, save your new best friend and be part of the solution. Too many animals are put down every year. Plus, all my rescues were already potty trained and know most basic commands.

I adopted my cat Reese here, and I couldn't be happier🥰 He is a two years old boy. When he was adopted, he got all the vaccinations, flea and deworm treatment, whole physical exam (including tumor exam), and was neutered and chip implanted. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, informing all the care Reese needed and gave me the food he had been eating to ensure a smoother transition. I really appreciate the amount of care they provided. They also gave me a free physical exam, and I took Reese there, he is a very healthy boy.

Reese bonded with us really fast. Two months later which is now, Reese is fully adjusted to our home. He is a sweet and clingy boy who always wants to cuddle. He makes us laugh everyday. In some ways I think he has helped us more than we have🥰

Final notes: love that they make sure bonded animals need to be adopted together ❤️ and also consider adult cats (they will bond really well, and they already know how to do pot training etc). They make sure cats eat both solid and liquid food. Adopt these cuties if you need a cat/dog/bunny. You can also foster!

This was my first experience adopting from a shelter and it was a great first experience. I’ve owned a lot of Cats in my childhood they can’t compare to the two cats I adopted here. If your looking for lifelong pets this is the place to go hands down.The service was amazing and everyone was incredibly helpful.

Great place. We just adopted a kitten. The staff are fantastic. The place is amazing. The animals are well taken care of and their interview process is good. I would highly recommend stopping by. If you can handle the responsibility, having an animal will definitely make you happier. Kudos to the staff here.
