What a great figure studio and a wonderful space in our community to learn and grow artistically. Philip is an amazing artist and teacher. The workshops and open studios are so valuable to me as an artist, and I will definitely be attending more events and classes in the future.

Everyone I've met at the studio has been friendly, supportive, and passionate about bettering their art. The space, vibes, and focus this studio is able to create is just special and one of a kind.

This studio is extremely inviting to new comers and equally good at instruction. I took the Form and Color in Portrait Painting class and learned so much about techniques and concepts to improve!

Super talented instructor. A balance of left brain/right brain in that information is presented to you in short format so you have time to process it and apply it. A community of fellow art enthusiasts at various stages in their art journey - all ages and walks of life just there to practice and grow. Could not recommend classes at Atwood Atelier more.

I took the still life oil painting workshop and loved it--I was hesitant at first because of the price and having to take a day off work because it was a three-day workshop, but in the end I feel like it was money well spent--I really learned a lot. Philip is an excellent teacher and really gives you the "why" of a lot of the art concepts (for example, showing diagrams of light beams and their paths to explain why the edge of a shadow cast onto an object is sharper than the edge of a shadow along its form), along with giving advice about techniques and ways of conceptualizing what you're drawing, and kind but honest individual feedback. Many of the people in the workshop were repeat students and I can see why they would come back multiple times! A lot of concepts I'd heard before only really clicked for me in this class because of how they were explained. I definitely recommend Atwood Atelier if you are interested in learning more about drawing or painting.

Atwood Atelier is a wonderful studio with top notch workshops and classical art courses. Philip Salamone is a natural educator, and his perspective is gold to improve your skills. I took the "alla prima" workshop and my painting skills leaped in ways I would not have managed otherwise. If you're looking for a way to work with live models, Atwood Atelier is the way to go! The atelier also attracts a friendly and relaxed community of creatives, and that might just be the best thing...
