Van der Valk Hotel Avifauna

Good hotel in a handy location - close enough to Amsterdam to allow you to have a day trip to the city, but not too close.

Lots of free carparking and if you have young children then the bird park next door could be a great attraction.

Room was very large, bed comfortable and staff helpful. We checked in very late and left early the next day (we did not have any food here) and were very happy with the hotel.

I am not going to lie. I wasn't expecting too much from this hotel. Not because the pictures weren't nice but because we booked it hurriedly, and purely for the convenience of it being next to a friend's wedding venue.

But boy were we pleased by the big spacious clean rooms. And to add to that the customer service was impeccable and everyone was very nice.

The food here was quite good but for me what really made my stay at this hotel was that after booking an extra night with them at the last moment, they gave us a room overlooking the bird park. So on the morning of waking up, I could tea and breakfast staring into the beautiful eyes of an inquisitive ostrich. So cute.

I loved my stay at this hotel, it was so clean and calm and peaceful and with my free pass to the park, I had plenty of time to get to know their many many bird species. My favourite is officially the Hornbill and the enclosure with circling Ravens.

And as an addendum, for anybody like myself recovering from surgery, this is actually a great place to relax and unwind with a little privacy, and to simply kick back and recover with full room service and friendly staff on hand to make sure your stay is as relaxing as can be.

The only thing this hotel is missing is a spa!

Great hotel, we stayed here because we were going to "Soldaat van Oranje". We had very nice rooms overlooking the birdpark. We booked dinner for the first night only, but it was so good that we had dinner on all 3 nights. Glutenfree and lactose free was no problem, they catered for every need.

I went on a 4 nights vacation with my family and we stayed at this hotel, from the airport with bus 470, it takes about 45mins then you changed to another bus either bus 1 or 2 stops right infront of the hotel. Mind you, bus 470 from the airport has charging pods and free WiFi, the hotel is huge with loads of amenities, animal park, especially different kind of birds, playground for the kids, restaurant, car park, bar, gym, casino, boat ride, etc. The animal park and playground has free entry for hotel residents just show them your key and you are good to go. We had an amazing time. I will definitely visit again. The staff is very friendly and speaks good English, they are always ready to assist😉

Stayed here a few times now as my son loves avifauna. Since last year seemingly a number of improvements have been made and I can now recommend a stay here. Rooms are clean and tidy, though there are some rough edges here and there. Breakfast is fantastic.

The staff on this occasion were also excellent and made us feel very welcome.

Hopefully we will get the opportunity to stay again in the future.

We ordered Xmas brunch at Avifauna and for the amount of money they were charging, we expected exceptional Xmas brunch.
We were hit by reality check when the brunch buffet was full of quick snacks like mediocre croissants, chicken nuggets, fries, ice cream, low quality fish products, sushi and even more mediocre salad bar. The only thing that distinguished it from brunch is Xmas bread which sat on the side. I would expected with all that fast food/lunch food, they would provide like stir fry vegetables or some sort of vegetables for children. The only veggies were in the salad bar no where else …

We will never return again as price definitely didn’t reflect quality. I emailed them with the complaint and they never responded. Truly disappointed
