I travelled from Canada to try the bread bowl clam chowder. It was delicious! The French dip deluxe was okay but lacking in seasoning. Birds were inside the restaurant; I'm not sure how common that is!

Boudin Bakery Cafe is a delightful spot to enjoy a casual meal with friends or family. While the French dip sandwich was really good, the clam chowder stole the show. And hey, who can resist that iconic sourdough bread? So, if you’re strolling around Pier 39, give Boudin a visit—you won’t be disappointed!

This location is the smaller of the 2 near the water it seems. We got here relatively early so the wait was minimal. They didn’t have a cool shop like the other location so if you’re looking for gifts then you have a walk ahead of you.

The sourdough bread bowl was incredible. I got the clam chowder and my friend got the crab chowder, and both are fantastic options. We sat in the sun outside and enjoyed watching people walk by and the pigeons begging for crumbs.

Very good bread bowls and soup. We used to come here when we would visit the bay as a Kid. Glad to see they still have this place open and running. Service is a very fast pace due to how many people are there but the staff were still quite helpful and not rude at all. Atmosphere is bland, but it makes sense as everything is quick and sit down and eat.

Boudin Sourdough on the pier in CA offers a delightful experience with their iconic sourdough bread. The waterfront location adds to the ambiance, providing a scenic backdrop for enjoying their menu, which includes a variety of sandwiches, soups, and bakery items. The sourdough itself is a highlight, known for its unique flavor and texture. Overall, it's a great spot for a taste of San Francisco's sourdough tradition by the waterfront.

It’s one of the places you have to go in San Francisco, we went to the one at Pier 39 and there’s another one that I think it’s the main Bakery a few blocks away by Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder, the beef Chili and the Crab chowder were great but the bread didn’t told me anything.. it’s nothing out of the extraordinary and at the end it’s more bread than soup/cream, you end throwing away almost the whole bread. But like I said it’s an experience that has to be done but I definitely not coming back and plus… you can eat the clam chowder soup/cream almost every where at San Francisco.

The food here was pretty disappointing after a really memorable meal I had a few weeks earlier at Disney California Adventure's Boudin outlet. The sourdough bread and the soups was far better.

The crab chowder I ordered here taste like it came from a can and there's barely any crab meat in it. And I've bought better mass-produced sourdough bread in the supermarket than the one served here.
