No longer see the digital online gallery but this is still a great place to see many decades of art! From Kurt Vonnegut to me, and many other artists, NVAM should be on your bucket list when visiting Chicago

Having the dog tags as the main picture for the exhibit is misleading. I traveled all the way from Virginia to see a relatives tags and the staff said they were moved to the 4th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center. Not a far drive but why mislead people to see your exhibit?

We arrived and tried to enter, but the call box at the first floor of the building wasn't answered by anyone, and the door was locked. Google and the NAVM website both indicated that the museum was open today, right now, but the door was locked and no one was answering. We even called the NAVM phone number listed on their website and no one answered. What a disappointment. I've wanted to visit this museum for many years and we finally had the opportunity, driving through Chicago, and we couldn't even get in the door.

Smaller than I anticipated, but the exhibits were impactful. The host was informative.

I didn't know this museum existed, but after seeing it on Google Maps I wanted to stop by. Admission to NVAM is totally free; I do recommend showing supporting with a small donation or purchasing something from the shop.

The space is smaller than expected, but it's filled with a variety of art and you can spend quite a bit of time going through everything. My husband and I spent about an hour and a half and the location wasn't crowded at all so we didn't feel rushed at all. If you're already going to be in the area or you're another Chicago vet looking for a cool museum, I highly recommend this place. :)
