Must see Dokhtar Castle in Fars province , IRAN. It is called Dokhtar Castle or Girl Castle (Virgin Castle ) because it was unreachable by enemies.There are a few other such an castles in IRAN , By examining the mountain castles from the Sassanid period to the Islamic castles used until the last centuries, it is concluded that all these buildings have common structural features and one of the important reasons for their formation was the natural factor for defense and countering the attack of enemies.
Qal'eh Dokhtar, Ghale Dokhtar, Dokhtar Castle or Dezh Dokhtar is a castle made by Ardashir I, in present-day Fars, Iran, in 209 AD. It is located on a mountain slope near the Firouzabad-Kavar road
There is an aprox 15 minutes stair-walk from the road to the castle but it certainly worth is as this historic building is in a way the base stone of Islamic Architecture all over the world.

A very beautiful and spectacular castle with a special location near Firouzabad, Fars
It’s a nice place to visit, when you see it from the main road you can see how monumental it was, just be aware of where you have to park, there is a kind of small police station where you can park, and then cross the pedestrian bridge, there are not signals of the entrance, or the path to get till the top.
This castle is located near Firouz Abad city in Fars province and dates back to Sassanied time about 1800 years ago.
It was built by the order of Ardeshir, the founder of Sassanied Empire.He defeated Ardavan the fifth, the last king of Partian dynasty and stablished his empire.
He ordered to built this castle on top of the mountain for security.The castle had 3 floors for soldiers, ministers and king and his family.
