Ajishou Brentwood Japanese Restaurant

Came here for a company lunch. Service was fast and food came real fast too! Chu Toro was good but was a bit frozen still when we had it. Chef’s Special Sashimi boat was very presentable and they even deep fried the prawn heads afterwards. Geoduck nigiri was the bomb! So delish! Sakamushi was ok. And beef capriccio was ok too. Shimaaji sashimi was very crisp and tasty.

This place has good Japanese food that includes more than just sushi. Stand-out items were the Beef Tataki and the Aburi Sushi Set.

A lot of places just coat their aburi nigiri with mayo, but this one had different toppings and considerings based on each type of fish/seafood, which worked really well.

It's a bit tricky to get to, since it is in the maze that is Brentwood.

Unfortunately, there's only pay parking in the mall.

We came during happy hour on a weekend, no reservation was needed for party of 6. we ordered mostly from the happy hour menu. It offered a good value. I wish they had spicy mayo or some sort of dipping mayo for the chicken karaage and deep fried squid. Sake was also half off $5 for a small size.

It was not easy to find this restaurant, located on the second floor near another restaurant, I really liked sushi and rolls. Quickly made the order and the pleasant staff. I don’t understand why this place has a small rating. I’ll go back there again.

Service and foods were great! We bought the coupon for a set menu for 4, it was so delicious and the lobster was so fresh! The location is hidden not easy to find the restaurant since it is in Brentwood mall on the second floor.

Restaurant has modern decor and ample, comfortable seating. Price point average to high for a single diner as they have a fair selection of standard Japanese dishes to more specialty/premium items. The Katsu Don ($15.50) was tasty and a filling portion for dinner. However, the don visually was unappealing given the menu image which showed it being garnished with nori and pickled onions and plated more "full" with the pork cutlet. Instead, mine included sautéed onions and some sparse green onions sprinkled on top.

The Kani Zosui ($19.95) was very comforting! While it's traditionally bland, I was hoping that the real crab meat included would be sweeter. It didn't have much flavour. I did ask for it not to be cooked with an egg; I'm not sure if it usually comes with an egg or not, as I had initially asked a server who said it didn't, but when I ordered, they made reference to not including egg. I think the rice soup would benefit from some additional ingredients like some seaweed, mushrooms or other vegetables (to enhance the texture and flavour profile). Overall, the meal was good. Ajishou has an extensive menu so would return in the future to try other offerings!

Located on the 2nd floor of The Amazing Brentwood. Went for a promotional set menu and everything was fresh and delicious.

With the discount, the prices I felt were very good value for money. However, I don't think I would go if it was priced at the original prices.

The atmosphere was great and the restaurant was very well decorated. You should note though that their washrooms are not the one right outside the doors as those are reserved for Neptune palace, the Chinese restaurant right beside them.

The service was great and the servers were very attentive. One tiny thing they could have improved on was to explain how everything works, for example, it would be been great to know that the lobster claws that were in the sashimi would later be used for the hotpot, but this was a very minor issue.

For our promotional set menu, tips were included already for our table of 4. I felt this was fair and appreciated the server clearly pointing it out when handing us the bill.

Overall, if you're in the area I would definitely reccomend checking it out, especially for their happy hour or special promos that they often have.
