After surviving the 105 feels- like temp during the worst drought in 10 years, I finally made it to OJT. Walking from the Ashton trail head, this spot was 6 miles away and offered plenty of parking, clean restrooms and a tiny bit of green space, which was all brown currently. 😆
There was only a few crops of trees where I strung up a hammock. Didn't stay long- hopped back on the Legacy Trail.

Great place to park and hit the Legacy Trail (Bike and hike trail) restrooms available, picnic spots and a huge parking lot right in about the middle of the trail. A little over 10 miles each way.

Wonderful break from cycling on The Legacy Trail. Give you backside a rest while you explore the lovely gardens at OJT. The volunteer "Friends" group has done an outstanding job creating beautiful gardens with native Florida plants. Walking trails let you explore the beauty of this Trailhead. Improvements continue with the assistance of local Master Gardeners. You won't be disappointed.

This park was off the Legacy bicycle trail that goes from Venice to Sarasota. We had a packed lunch there.

Your pit stop for Legacy Trails. Parking spots, restrooms, pavilions with chairs. Love it. A great place for kids to play laser tags too😜

I use this as access to the Legacy Trail. There are plenty of parking spaces and there is a restroom and water fountains (one by the restroom building and one on the corner of the trail).

In the summer the water runs hot to warm but this is Florida.

There seems to be only one shaded spot so if you get it you’re fortunate. But, again, this is Florida.

There are some shaded picnic tables as well.

I really like what they have done to improve on this park. It used to be a dirt and grass lot but now there are a lot of paved parking spots. There is also now a restroom and some nice new tables to sit at. The tables have nice views of ponds and trees and so very nice place to snack! And all that besides the fact that it offers great access to the Legacy Trail. Very glad this was completed and I will be spending some more time here for sure.
