Was here for the total eclipse in 1999 and generally in the local area (Freethy and Treganhawk) for 6 weeks each Summer from 1948 to 1963. Great memories (horizontal rain notwithstanding). Very crowded these days but still a good place for family holidays. Rip-tides close to the beach can be lethal so never swim out of your depth - I saw more than one fatality and several dramatic helicopter and RNLI rescues and recoveries over the years.
