Het Prentenkabinet

Nice atmosphere. Personnel was nice and helpful. Menu wasn't too extensive, but we all found very nice dishes. Strong recommendation.

Having visited this restaurant following the mostly positive reviews I can only say the experience was disappointing. The Prentenkabinet positions itself on the upper end of the dining spectrum, but fails to deliver.

When seated and having received our drinks we were asked if we wanted some bread: surcharge. Fries to accompany the main course: surcharge. With dishes being quite pricey already you'd expect these basics to be included.

The food itself wasn't great either. I had a smoke duck and duck liver terrine starter that came straight out of the fridge and was served so cold it had no flavor at all. The main dish of quail stuffed with mushroom didn't pack a lot of punch either.

We won't be returning any time soon.

The meals were well prepped with good ambience.

Dinner with french & spanish colleagues. We took the surpize menu with wine menu. Colleagues have a lot of references but were impressed and thought the value for money is real good (nearly E100 pp).

We went here to celebrate the birthday of one of my friends. He had arranged the 4-course dinner with accompanying wines. Excellent quality and they were flexible enough to serve our vegan friend alternative dishes, and adapt some of my dishes to my shrimp allergies.
Our waitress was knowledgeable enough to, after just a look, even give an explanation about the vegan dishes our vegan friend got (Oh, you've got the . . .). All in all a very nice evening at a restaurant that's well worth a visit.

PS: since we were guests of the birthday boy, I've got no idea what we spent.

If I could give this place more stars, I would rate them a 10 out of 5.....amazing food, great service and presentation, and a super overall experience!! One of the best meals I have ever had with the right proportionsI A must place to eat in Leiden and I will come back here again the next time I am in Leiden!!!!

We had dinner as a group of friends. Portions are good size wise and wine paired well. Service is at a good standard and creates a nice atmosphere. I found the food nice, but just not yet there. I was missing more clean and expressive flavors. It’s looking like a Michelin star, but not yet tasting like one. They have different rooms to dine in.
