Bedi Makky Art Foundry Corporation

Bill + this foundry have an amazing story. Using old world (french sand casting) technique that relies on recycling their sand vs commercial sand casting disposing of polluted waste, Bedi Makky has survived the economic hardship facing industry in the city. Bill gave me a tour of his facility when I walked in with a job and could not believe the pieces they created (Wall Street Bull, the Iwo Jima monument . . . the list is astounding), using the same sand for my project. As one of the last places on the planet to have this sand (the french casting sand supply was exhausted when Germany bought it as a great compacting soil to construct the base layer of their autobahn) and using the original techniques this place is living history.
