If you go to Biltmore and don't check out the gardens... You're screwing up bud! The house is cool and all, but the gardens are the star of the show! So many cool paths and cool plants, weird stuff I didn't even know existed!
What a great spot to walk through and take photos of all the beautiful flowers.
The azalea garden sits in between the estate and the conservatory. Everything was in bloom when we visited. Such a pretty sight to see all the flowers.
Wear a nice, comfortable pair of shoes. You will want to walk the Gardens as long as you can. There is a shuttle that can transport you to the Garden itself or you can take the walk. If you choose to take the shuttle, it will drop you off at the Garden where you will begin your journey. In the Rose Garden, the smell of Roses is a fragrant wounder. The smell is not overpowering, but it was a sensory wounder to enjoy such fragrance outdoors. Slow yourself down and take in the surroundings. Entering the Greenhouse is another sensory wounder once again. The plants and flowers are spectacular. Again, slow down and take in the surroundings. There is a wonderful gift shop with may one-of-a-kind items. I hope you enjoy the photos I have posted to share the experience from my vantage point. We will surely be making a return trip to enjoy the other seasons.
As first-time visitors to the Biltmore House and Gardens, we enjoyed the house where we spent over 90 minutes inside, and the rest of the day wandering around the gardens. We also walked out-and-back on the trail to the lagoon. The gardens were spectacular with the thousands of different trees, shrubs, and plants. The small garden side-trails were intimate and cozy and quiet when compared to the main paths. The conservatory/glass houses were also worth the long time we spent here.
The one downside is the around $100 cost for each of us - but with upkeep of the house and gardens we can see how this money is used.
The many Chimney Swifts by the house also put on a really good display!
Next time we are in the area, we will reserve a day for a second visit.

Absolutely beautiful flowers. Lots of them. I could have spent the whole day. So many vary unusual and interesting. All are well cared for. There is a warm room, a cool room, and lots outdoors too. I could have taken dozens more pictures.

Some of the first Chinese and Catawba Rhododendrons are beginning to bloom. The Buckeyes and Yellowwoods are beginning as well . Another tree is the peak-bloom double-flowering Horse Chestnut located behind the Conservatory.

Biltmore Blooms honors Frederick Law Olmsted considered the father of landscape architecture in America, and his enduring contributions to the beauty of Biltmore.
Azaleas begin to bloom followed by rhododendrons and mountain laurel while buds of every shade appear in the Rose Garden – all framed by lush greenery and a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The main gardens outside were not blooming because it is November. The green house was beautiful and it is always so nice and peaceful to walk through the gardens. We got to see the staff planting bulbs for the spring that was really neat. We plan to return in the spring when everything is blooming.
