This was a beautiful little hike. If you take the whole loop it will be right around 3 miles. There is very little dune sand so this is east for who ever is on the hike. Make sure you bring your bug spray because you will get eaten alive otherwise. Also outside the first half mile of the trail you will be under tree cover

Attention Nature and wildlife appreciators… you will definitely love this looped trail. It’s not very long, but it’s a safe haven to many species of birds and plants. Which is all that matters.
This is a glorious trail that snakes it’s way through gorgeous, rolling dunes. For healthy bodies it’s a casual stroll, but might be a tad challenging for anyone with physical issues. I did the long trail and savored every second of it. Free Parking in the lot.

A great place to walk and enjoy time in the woods in this part of the national park. Parking is available and the signage for the trailhead is easily seen while driving down the highway. Most of the trail is easily walked, but there are some portions with sand that goes uphill.

This is a treasure for Chicago. Not quite Yosemite, but a great escape nonetheless.

This trail was adorable! Took about an hour to do the long loop. It's a relatively mild hike. A couple good uphill climbs. There is a section with a kind of floating bridge. Because it's been rainy the water was ankle high and my feet got wet. They dried off pretty well as we walked. So much cute butterfly weed everywhere. Highly recommend this trail.

Great variety of rolling Sandune terrain in an oak savanna. Be sure to read the sign about the oak savanna. Very interesting.
