Malvan Tadka

Visited this place on Saturday afternoon. This place is pretty empty with 3 to 4 table occupancy.

The ambience is pretty decent with the Family AC section on the ground floor.

Parking would be very difficult, given that the outlet is on the busy main road.

We tried the following items here
1) Bombil rawa fry (5/5)
2) Mutton thali (3.5/5)
3) Pomfret thali (2/5)
4) Surmai/ King fish fry (4.5/5)
5) Sol kadhi (5/5)

Bombil rawa fry was crispy and tasty. Full marks for this.

Sol khadi was spiced accurately to the liking. Generally, if it is less spiced, then it becomes sweet (due to the sweetness of coconut) and if spiced more, it becomes spicy. Here it was a perfect balanced and thick consistency.

Now Mutton pieces in Mutton thali were hard. Only a handful of restaurants realize that the mutton always needs to be cooked slowly and for a long time to make it soft and tasty. Wouldn't recommend Mutton items here, unless you are ok with hard mutton pieces.

The worst part was Pomfret fry in the Pomfret thali. It was not at all fresh and stinking. However, when we complained, the waiter was kind enough to immediately get it replaced with Surmai fry, which was fresh.

Most likely, we visited the restaurant during the end of June, when the fishermen don't venture into the sea to catch fish. So that might be a reason why the Pomfret was not fresh. However, the restaurant should have not served us that, especially when we are paying 500 bucks for a thali.

Menu card rates shown on website are much cheaper than actual menu card in hotel. In AC dining hall smoking is allowed irrespective of No smoking sign. Quality of food was below average.... prawn pieces were floating in oil. They were hard to bite..... better hotels are available in Mumbai.... Not at all recommended but I will not visit again...

Quite possibly the most mediocre Malwani food I have ever had. The chicken lollipops were undercooked, and the bombil fry was so poorly done that it barely tasted like fish and had a papad-like consistency. The surmai masala fry had very thick edges and lacked the softness and flavor it should have. The curries in the thali were also mediocre, and the Schezwan sauce tasted stale. Although the service was efficient, the food left much to be desired. We will never go here ever again.

We had ordered Bombil Rava fry and below are the pics of the same. No Bombil only Rava masala deep fry was offered. Pls don't eat Bombil fry here.

Absolutely the worst service in any restaurant in this area. Will never visit this place again. Food is just about average .Not worth the price too.

The hotel is fine, nothing much to say about ambience. The waiter who served us was very attentive but the person who was taking order seemed aloof. Bombil Thali was yummy 😋 loved the fry and soft bhakari...

Very good service and humble staff. Good food quality and taste. Prices bit on a higher side but justifies.

We went to this place for dinner. For starters we ordered chicken crispy which was excellent. The quantity is also good and taste is nice. For main course we ordered chicken dum biryani. Taste and quantity both are good. The place has good ambience. They have indoor ac seating. It's hygienic and service is also good . Staff is also polite. The pricing of starters is a bit high. But overall it was a very good experience. They have valet parking.
