Stopped by this location while kayaking on Big Bear Lake today. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the history behind the dam is fascinating. If you get a chance, try to visit the ruins of the old dam keeper’s house, which is located to the south of the dam barrier on a knoll overlooking the dam. There is a small road that leads to the ruins. There is a pull off area on the south side of the dam if you wish to get a closer look at it, but I preferred seeing from the water.

You don't have to buy tickets. Fishing was fun. No bites though. I did have some trout follow my bait. I saw a few 6-12" catfish, but no luck. I will try again.

Nice spot for a great view and some snow

Very picturesque views from here not only of the lake itself but down valley. Weather can add the view, captured many a cloud or storm coming on from this vantage point. Also a very busy spot for fishing.

Drove past here while driving around the lake. Cool spot but with the snow mid March nothing was really accessible. And I don't think your supposed to have access here as there's no real spot to park or anything besides a little dugout with room enough for 2 cars or 1 truck but there's a gated fence that's locked.
Does offer a good view of the house on the hill though which is apparently a landmark.
I'm sure in the summer all of this is more accessible as with all the snow everything was closed or simply dangerous to try to get to.

Beautiful scenery, a perfect get away from the city and enjoy the peaceful spots this place offer.

Beautiful area. Pretty trees and gorgeous water. You could see large sized trout from up above. Heavy traffic in the area so watch when you pull in and pull out.

Nice place to stop to look at the far end of the lake. Dont miss the old house atop the rocks across the street.
