It's always a great place to stroll around while visiting downtown Pittsburgh. A park like setting in a public town hall square with many delightful eateries and coffee shops. It's next to PPG Plaza with its outdoor fountains and winter ice skating area. Many vendors display their wares around various holidays and events like Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Arts Festival 🎨 Enjoy! 😀

Visited Pittsburgh with my mom recently to see NF. We explored a lot of the area and the market square was our first stop. Lots of shops, crowds, and seating for everyone. We got some sushi and sat down and enjoyed the beautiful weather while people watching. Music was playing and lots of people around were nice, too.

On our first night in Pittsburgh we walked around looking for somewhere to have dinner. This is how we discovered the Market Square. What a nice little spot in the downtown. I liked how there were chairs to relax in. There were a few people playing chess. It was not very busy. Felt like a smaller version of Bryant Park in NYC. We stopped here a few times during our visit and wished there were more spots like this in Toronto.

Love Pittsburgh. Amazing city where old meets new. Almost every building in downtown has its unique story. Beautiful churches next to shiny skyscrapers. Rich architectural and cultural offerings.

This place is great as long as you are in the “market” for food. With everything from Dunkin to an oyster house, the plaza is able to satisfy all 3 meals. The big draw for me is the open space with seating and minimal cars that give people a place to meet up, enjoy some food, and enjoy some of the architecture of the city.

Love the holiday shops. I was blown away at the reasonable prices at the Irish Design Center's fundraiser booth - they have 100% wool sweaters. Same with the 100% Peruvian Alpaca wool booth (the young girl who works there has the best personality for the job. She's just terrific). The 100% wool sweaters that are made in Nepal are high quality too and would cost 3 times as much in a store.

Other warm weather apparel, ornaments and gifts are gorgeous and some are one of a kind. The German Christmas shop is gorgeous. Wow.

Ice-skating is nearby and PPG lobby has a beautiful Christmas display from various countries. I highly recommend checking in out.

I recommend going during the day and staying till it becomes dark. You'll feel the Holiday charm in the air as the Christmas trees start to sparkle.
