Many of their plays are well-acted. However, they thrive on performing plays with shock value. Unless it’s a family show, most of their plays have foul language, adult themes, family-relationship drama, and sometimes even nudity. Many have a social agenda as well. The theater makes great use of a small stage, but there are so many better plays that could be performed without having shock value or an obvious social statement. They aren’t particularly nice to their volunteers, either. The management team acts more like the Dayton Live Gestapo, watching volunteers like hawks and making them ask permission for everything. Does all this make it sound like the managers are pathetic? Because they are!

It’s so fun to eat and drink downtown and then walk to The Loft Theatre for a world-class live show at a great price!! I’ve laughed until I’ve cried watching funny performances here. Every seat in the house is great, as it’s an intimate setting. The stage projects towards the seats, which curve around the stage. Support downtown eateries and our nationally-recognized performing arts in Dayton!

The Loft Theater puts on compelling, dynamic and thought provoking shows for today's audiences.

The level of professionalism on and off the stage can be heard in the audience's reactions and performances from the artists.

Wonderful venue.

Attended a performance of Who's Holiday, based on Dr. Seuss stories of Whoville and the Grinch with an adult twist, a one woman show. It's a great performance space. Comfortable seats and unobstructed sight lines. Great lighting grid and fine sound quality. Bar in the lobby. Located in the building adjacent to the Victoria theatre.

Update: Saw "Indigo" on 6/10/2023-- another wonderful performance by the Human Race Theatre Co., at the Loft Theatre.
Outstanding, moving performance! Also, the Human Race Theatre Company's 2023-2024 Season looks to be another round of phenomenal performances---we've already signed up for season tickets.

Cannot overemphasize how unique and special this place is--an intimate setting where one can see world-class LIVE performances by exceptional actors/actresses--at a very economical price. We've seen theatre productions all over the region, and this venue is our favorite. Moreover, they present productions that will get you to think, and inspire your humanity (in a good way). Truly spectacular! And one cannot beat the prices, even for front-row seats (though a small venue, EVERY seat is wonderful). Worth every penny! AND, they have "Sawbuck Sundays", where one can see the 1400 (2:00PM) performance for $10!!! Check them out online for more info!

Powerful, thought-provoking performances, in a wonderfully intimate venue—a hidden gem in the Gem City! Excellent troupe of performers, artful direction & production. Highly recommended— the Human Race Theatre Company consistently presents exceptional art!

Easy to find between Uno pizza and the Victoria Theater, this modern smallish facility is on the third floor accessed by stairs or an elevator. It shares the building with WDPR 88.1 Discover Classical radio station.
