A lovely space to spend time reading, playing games, enjoying the historic architecture, taxidermy display (!), or other small exhibits. If you are there for more practical purposes, the staff is very helpful; we were able to get a library card in just a few minutes and for a small fee ($10) since we live outside of Newport.

Beautiful building for our community's library! Glad that it is finally opening again. It is a wonderful place to relax and read for a bit.

The second floor reading room is the place to be, even on sunny days! A real plus for Newport.

What a cool (and historical) library! We were snowbound in Newport one day and walked around town and the locals recommended we stop in the library. It's one of those gorgeous old library's you only see in movies about small-town America. Kinda reminded me of the library in "It" actually! Lots of friendly staff and upstairs there is an amazing preserved bird collection that is quite impressive to see. There's side rooms with historical memorabilia and a chess board where we spend the afternoon playing a game. Really worth a stop to slow back down and enjoy the simple things!

A classically elegant old building crafted in the finest style of mansions from years gone by. This library has the feel of a victorian reading room in an English castle. In addition to a great book collection there is a small museum of taxidermy animals of different types on the second floor along with meeting rooms and quiet places to read in cozy chairs.
