This is a nice course. The problem is that they do not take tee times for singles. You have to fight traffic for 45 minutes (12 miles) just to have them tell you that they can put you on a waiting list because they are full for the next 2 hours. But you can go practice at the driving ra... oh wait, they don't have one...

Played here at least three times this year. I love the super senior rates which keep golf affordable. Nice to have the PGC membership. Also played Legion Memorial, and Bellevue. Jefferson next week.

West Seattle is probably my favorite of all the Premier Golf muni courses. Decent layout, good condition, challenging but not too punishing. It's leaps and bounds nicer than some of the other Premier courses such as Jackson Park, for example, which is meh at best and similarly priced. Bellevue's decent but plays so slow and gets really backed up on the front 9 so I always expect to play a 5+ hour round there. West Seattle is much better than either of those, it's just forever away from anyone who doesn't actually live in West Seattle.

With that said, I still think it's a touch on the pricey side, especially during peak hours or weekend tee times. Also the older guy at the front desk is consistently quite grumpy. Either way I'll continue to play WS a couple times a year even though it's a massive commute to get there.

Played here on a sunny Friday afternoon. We started out with a couple beers at the bar and I found the bartender to be very friendly and personable. From there we checked-in and paid for the round. $81 for twilight with a cart. We were then told carts had to be in by 9pm. The guy at the front desk probably repeated this 6-8 times, almost in a condescending tone. Meaning with a 5pm tee time we would probably be part way into the back nine and have to stop and bring the carts back to meet some arbitrary deadline. Just for fun I kept track of when it got dark that day, it was 10pm. So we lost over an hour of play because of some dumb policy. Not a fan at all. But anyway, we set out on the round. I personally think West Seattle is a pretty terrible course but since that's a matter of preference I can't really dock points based on that. I will say the greens are so rock hard that you can plan on everything rolling 20-60 feet, even lob wedges. The fairways are also so sloped & undulated that good tee shots will often dribble off the fairway. Getting 100 yards of roll off of a drive is cool, except when everything funnels left or right into the trees. Sure you could tee off with irons but this course is pretty long so that would be a problem also. The last thing I want to mention is something not exclusive to West Seattle, but it's become such a ubiquitous indication of business incompetence I have to mention it...there was no beverage cart. Allegedly there was but we never saw one. It was a mid-80's day in Seattle with a packed house of people blowing off steam after a work week. Almost 2.5 hours to play the front nine and none of the dozens of groups on the course could buy a $6 beer or two. Literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars in revenue being missed. I will never understand this. This will be my last trip to West Seattle golf course, over the years I have played here probably 10 times but this will be the last. I just cannot justify supporting a place that systematically takes the fun out of what I think should be a relaxing, enjoyable past time.

Of the seattle courses, I find this one arguably the best. Clubhouse staff friendly and helpful. No driving range but there are warm up nets.
Dining area is understaffed but the lone person there does great job.

Love this course. It has a great design with a lot of variety in the holes. When golf everywhere is getting so pricey, it's great to have such good public options.
