I absolutely love this store. I have really high requirements for the meat I consume and Healthy Meats meets all of them and more. Staff are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They listened to all my questions and concerns and went above and beyond to make sure I was a happy customer. Quality and customer service are top notch and I highly recommend!

Coming up on 8.5 years of shopping at Healthy Meats and to this day I know I found a real gem in Durham Region. Early 2016 I noticed I was having digestive trouble and wondered if it could be connected to what I was eating. With zero help from my family doctor, I started reading, and reading, and reading some more in addition to working with some professionals in the holistic wellness sphere. It is always important to acknowledge that nutrition is one (a substantial one, but one nonetheless) piece of the holistic health and wellness puzzle. At that time in 2016, the extreme surge in popularity of “grass-fed, free-range, wild-caught, drug-free, traditionally raised” meats had not yet occurred. I started experimenting with dietary shifts, but my closest option (or so I thought) was a Whole Foods. Great products… but the drive time, coupled with the cost, and still not knowing exactly where my food was coming from just didn’t sit quite right with me. I can’t recall now exactly how I stumbled upon Healthy Meats but I did. I was and still am impressed with their genuine “traceable from farm to fork” tagline. Their transparency with sourcing and stated values were confirmed when I took a drive out to the farms they source products from. Finally, I had found what I was looking for-local farms with visibly demonstrated core values of ethical, free range, pasture raised, drug free, often exclusively grass-fed, happy and healthy animals that are well loved until the moment of their one bad day. Within a couple months of exclusively consuming products I found at healthy meats, my digestion improved along with my mood and my overall relationship to food and how I nourish my body. 8.5 years later and this shop is still where I get 95%+ of my meats from. Jim was the first person I met at healthy meats back in 2016 and I could immediately tell that he cared deeply about his work by the way that he answered my questions honestly and respectfully. All staff exude passion towards their jobs and I’m so glad that this small but mighty shop has held on over the decades they’ve been open. Health concerns or not, I highly recommend stopping in to check it out and giving any of their top quality products a try. Cheers to many more years Healthy Meats! Sure to some it’s just meat, but for me, I look forward to the quality extended across all corners of Healthy Meats. The care that goes into every step of their business is why I keep coming back. My family has been going here for years and I know for many more generations to come. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Hey, just wanted to share my two cents about what went down at that butcher shop. So, my buddy's been having a rough time health-wise lately, and he's all about that grass-finished red meat for some relief, But then, he gets taken for a ride by the owners of this place. He's struggling for a whole month, dealing with all sorts of discomfort, and it's just not cool. They even say they'll give him a refund, and then they go and block him on social media? That's just low. Just thought I'd give folks a heads up to think twice before dealing with these guys.

My partner and I have been going into Healthy Meats for years now. This family-owned business is one of the best spots in whitby! The staff are always incredibly friendly and knowledgeable; we always leave with great recommendations. The quality of food here is unmatched and you really can’t go wrong with anything you get from this store! It is definitely a highlight in downtown whitby.
