Authentic matcha latte and dessert. Super friendly people. Just be mindful when you ask for the level of sugar, these are much less sweeter than the versions from United States.
I visited this cafe on a Sunday morning and didn't have to queue up, but I saw a sign outside asking customers to queue on the other side of the pavement so as to not block the way, so the situation might be different later in the day. The staff were friendly and spoke english well. I ordered a matcha latte with matcha cream and had the option to choose the level of sweetness. I asked for my drink to be a little bit sweet and it turned out perfect! The matcha concentration for the latte and the cream was strong and just how I like it. I enjoyed my drink so much I bought the little matcha and houjicha cakes that they sell.
I would recommend any matcha/houjicha fans to visit this store!

Authentic. Ordered two roasted matcha latte. The ice cream isn't very sweet！ If they could offer high chairs, it would be a lot better.

Ordered a premium iced matcha latte with matcha whipped cream topped with a matcha financier. It took a few minutes to prepare the drink and the staff will ask if you want any sweet syrup to be added. The matcha flavor of the latte was strong and is enriched with the additional whipped cream; very tasty. The financier was good to have with the whipped cream if you want more than just a drink. A bit pricey but worth it for the high quality matcha. Also tried the matcha and houjicha gateau chocolate which were soft with a fudgy center, both were quite sweet with a strong tea flavor.

We visited Hatoya Asakusa on a Thursday around 1 PM and it was not busy. However, they did have signage outside of the shop telling people where to line up so I expect it gets busy. The shop has an English menu which includes tea, toppings, sweets, and souvenirs. We tried the single blend matcha latte and hojicha latte. Both lattes were iced, very pretty, and tasted delicious. It was the perfect drink for a warm day. The shop has a small standing bar for you to enjoy your drinks as well.
An absolute must-visit for matcha lovers! The taste here is incredibly authentic, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a fantastic experience. Oishi indeed! 🫶👏

The staff prepare the matcha drink right in front of us, so it is very good for us to enjoy seeing the making desserts.
Cafe is near to the Sumida river bank, so you can enjoy the drink, by having slices of Tokyo Skytree.
