Great place for some real Camden culture. The bar is very cool with great decor and rock tunes. Fairly big room at the bag for live gigs, we saw some punk rock there, of varying quality, but love to see live music nevertheless!

This pub is fantastic, with a vibrant atmosphere and top-notch live music that kept us entertained throughout the night. However, the state of the toilets was quite disappointing, and it definitely needs improvement. Despite that, the overall experience was enjoyable thanks to the lively ambiance and great music.

The place is dripping with musical history. Rough around the edges inside but a warm welcome awaits.
The bar lady was kind enough to let us see the backroom and stage where Madness started out.

Thank you for working to continue to let this place exist! Firstly, lovely cold beer from the keg served to the dulcet tones of every 70's rock band you can imagine! Lovely attentive staff serving fast and efficient. This place offers live music, played till late with free entry!!! A rare gem indeed. A difficult balancing act and an act of bravery, brilliant. A bit busy to take many photos but I hope you get the idea.

*Updated response, just to say thank you for the owner for taking the time to write an extensive and honest response. I appreciate it and also that it's a tough time for publicans at the moment. That being said, I would urge you to consider having a different pricing in the day compared to at night with the music venue backstage being open. As I said below, £7.20 is remarkably high for a pint of Guiness, it's the most i've paid not at a club.

Unbranded pint of Guiness (4.2%) at £7.20 is straight up out of order.

I do like this pub, love the venues history and came here for a few nights out when I was younger.
But you just can't be charging that when you are meant to be a working class place. That would be considered a bit much at most of Londons' 5 star hotels, probably.
Said to the barman that's a bit bloody rich, and he said yeah I wouldn't drink here."

❤️ A famous Camden pub and legendary music venue.
.
The Dublin Castle is located on Parkway in Camden Town and just a few minutes walk from Camden High Street and Camden Town tube.
.
The building of the railways around Camden in the 19th century attracted workers from all corners of the UK. After a night on the sauce around Camden there used to be many a tear-up between the Irish, English, Welsh and Scots navvies. In order to keep them apart, four pubs were built to serve the respective nationalities, all had “Castle” in the name. The Dublin Castle was built to serve the Irish.
.
In 1974 the pub was bought by an Irishman who decided to showcase up and coming bands and artists, one of the first was Madness and the rest they say his history. Other artists to grace the stage here are Amy Winehouse, Blur, Arctic Monkeys and many more that went on to make it big in the music industry including The Specials, RIP Terry Hall, sad news today. ▪️▫️
.
The decor here is no frills traditional with soho red lighting which makes for an atmospheric setting. The walls are clad in mirrors and lots of posters and artworks of artists and bands that have played this pub. At the back of the bar is the music room and stage.
.
The beer line up was straight up and full of familiar favourites, this makes ordering a pint easy when it’s busy. I had a Moretti, it was a good pint but expensive.
.
I arrived just after 4pm on a Saturday and the atmosphere was buzzing. The pub was busy with lots of oldschool Shinheads smartly dressed in their check shirts, Fred Perry’s and the odd crombie. I got chatting to a friendly Geordie fella who used to be a Skin, he works and lives in West London a couple of weeks a month. I asked him why he drinks here and he said that people talk to each other in this pub whether they know each other or not.
.
The @dublincastlecamden is a great place to come for a drink whether you’re here for the music or not. With the exception of the Khazi’s I couldn’t fault this place. Definitely worth a visit, you never know you might see the next big thing.
