Please only ride this trail on gravel or mountain bikes. We came from an hour away expecting a paved trail and were sorely disappointed. The pictures on trail sites were of the very short paved sections. We rode the whole trail out and back and logged 19.2 miles. Definitely some sketchy folks out on the trail smoking weed and others hanging out. Some homeless along the trail as it goes past the medical center.

I love this trail for running, walking, just getting outside in general. Plenty of space for people who understand it’s a shared space. I go in from the Sav Rapids bc I am more afraid of the bridge on the other side. Plenty of bike riders and place to rent bikes. I saw a little snake one day. Yikes lol. It’s hikers out there. I love to look at the plants and flowers as well. I have only went 4 miles into the trail. I hate that some people leave bags of poop on the trail but it’s the people not the trail. It smells a little rank of dog pee at the entrance sometimes too BUT again it’s not bad and it’s people and dogs Not the trail. It’s a 22 min drive from me but so worth it. Great for sunny days when I want to workout outside and have some shade. I see kayakers on the water and it’s a place to rent kayaks. It’s just a great spot for outdoor activity. It’s a playground out there at the rapids too. The path is mainly dirt with a few asphalt areas from the previous structures and structures to create the space. Animals MUST be leashed. Consideration of others is expected in this public space. Plenty of parking. Bridge is wide enough for a wheelchair just don’t remember if the little lip on it is smooth or raised. I recommend it any time of day it’s open and go with friends for an even better experience. Access to fishing, bathrooms and other things you might need before entering the trail. Plenty of parking. Take the kids to burn energy and enjoy nature.

Lots of ease of access for wheelchair users. Id recommend starting at the lake and working your way down. Some of the trail is unpaved, so ensure your chair can go off road.

The trails are mixed use for EBikes, Paddle bikes, and walker/ runners.

Id recommend making your way to the clearing, it has restrooms, a place to lay a blanket , and a great view! The path was washed out to this area on my visit bur was still negotiable.

Been going here a lot lately and they've been doing alot of clearing and cleaning up. This is by far the most peaceful and beautiful places to visit in Augusta. Just keep walking past the Water Works building to see for yourself.
You can enter Eisenhower park and walk down toward the train tracks if you don't want to walk far. It takes you toward the Water Works building.

I'm unsure where to put this, but I did the 10-mile loop a couple of weeks ago, which was beautiful. Started at 7ish and it was great! I saw a lot of people getting after it! Walkers, hikers, runners with their dogs, even a high school cross country team (I think) was out there and they were flying. It’s also a generally flat course, just watch out for the occasional pot hole.

Great family hiking & biking trail! Dog friendly! Wide/double-track, paved & hard-packed trail, approximately 8 miles one-way from Savannah Rapids to downtown Augusta. Scenic, flat and easy ride to just get out, relax, walk or pedal and take in the scenery and fresh air. With historic sites along the way, a lush canopy overhead and the Savannah River and Augusta Canal flanking you on either side, a leisurely walk or ride makes for a perfect day! We parked at Savannah rapids, pedaled to Augusta and back for a wonderful day outdoors.
