Reading Pharmacy

Rude staff. My 89 year old grandmother needed an emergency prescription as she had lost hers. 111 asked me to call this particular pharmacy for a referral but the person who picked up was so rude, you would never believe these are the people in charge of our healthcare. Because its not her usual pharmacy, the girl on the phone told me to call her nominated pharmacy (who said they can't do anything obviously because 111 didn't send them the referral). Anyway, I phoned this place back and the girl on the phone kept referring to the other pharmacy as "them lot" and whilst trying to ask her questions on how to solve this issue, just said "yeah, yeah, yeah" and hung up. Disgusting! This place clearly cares more about money and rinsing the NHS than it does helping people.

The customer service in here has fallen massively since the new owners. We’re literally waiting at the counter to be served with another person also waiting, three staff in the background who have acknowledged us but no urgency to come and serve us or even an effort to let us know they’ll be with us in a minute.

I have placed a request for my mother from the surgery but they did not send the prescription on time, could not make a call to the surgery as waiting que was so long. I come to the pharmacy for help they call surgery in front of me but the waiting was so long so a staff member asked me to leave my number and they will update me about the matter. Next day prescription was send to my home. Really thankful to the whole team and the efforts they are making to make our lives more easy.

Very grateful to Reading Pharmacy for persevering by phone and email to get my repeat prescriptions from Melrose surgery. I had tried by phone, only to be sent a "Barcode" to show the Pharmacy and which turned out to be wrong. The surgery had initially sent the prescription within a day of my requesting (appreciated) but had then been unable to accept that it had not been received: it was only through the efforts of the Pharmacy that a fresh prescription did arrive, albeit 11 days after the initial issue! A big "thank you" to the Pharmacy for all its help.

28th June I have deleted my previous review as the new owners and friendly staff are working hard to continue to improve the standard of this pharmacy. The past 2 months have had a marked improvement and they are striving to deal with as many customers as possible. They have been amazing 👏

Excellent service, staffs are always helpful and I can get my medications done. Pharmacist is extremely helpful with finding alternative products for me when my medications are out of stock. Compared to Boots where I have to wait for hours to get my prescription done, it was fulfilled almost within 10 minutes here. We all know that NHS healthcare and pharmacies are under lots of pressure, and the fact that we can still receive the medications and advices free of cost, we should be, well at least I am grateful for this (vs if you are from some countries one medication cost £100 per month!). Plus, they are healthcare professionals, they deserve to be treated with respect! So Thank you for everything.

My prescription is usually delivered and left in safe place but since surgery taken over if I'm not in then they just say I have to come collect. So I went to collect my prescription and hadn't even finished my sentence and received a surly interruption. I only experienced one friendly and helpful member of staff and that was after a 20+minute wait while my dog and husband got drenched outside. Glad I checked the packaging because I only received half of my different medication. Then I watched as other customers were treated with the same surly attitude. Not good enough! This place used to be fantastic and friendly service but the place looks bare, and the customer service is dire. A real shame!
