The palace is beautiful, and the view is spectacular. The staff allowed us to pass the massive line with our pre-purchased tickets because we had a baby in our company, which was very nice. Otherwise, the line looked like a 1.5 hour wait mid day.

This is my 2nd stop after the horrible Pena Palace experience.
So I actually feel so free and Wonderful.
I don't need to line up with thousands of people and move slowly bit by bit and after 2 hours I am out.
This is a beautiful place.
Beautiful tall chimneys.
Don't miss the beautiful blue rooms with the golden dragon and 72 stag saints' lobby, it's stunning.
I feel so relaxed and so free touring here.

Sintra National Palace is smack in the middle of the town. Get there early! It's very popular. We had a private guide who was very informative.

The first thing I noticed about the Palace--it's two very different periods, styles of architecture slammed together. This seems to be common in Europe as each new King wants to modernize and put their own personality onto their abodes.

This palace has elements of Moorish, Spanish, English, and even Chinese influences. Beautiful tiles throughout. This is a sprawling palace, so allow yourself ample time. It's well worth your time.

(NOTE: This is not Pena Palace, though some Pena Palace reviews have been mistakenly placed in this review section.)
4.5 overall.
We two visited in late Aug 2023. Exceeded expectations, and easily walkable from the train station.

We did not purchase our tickets in advance, and waited about 5 minutes in the ticket line before purchasing our tickets. Good audioguide that we purchased at the ticket office and downloaded to our mobile phones via QR code.

We spent over two hours visiting the many interesting rooms that depicted the history and lifestyles of Portuguese royalty, and especially enjoyed viewing the vast kitchen with its two huge chimneys.

I actually had a better time here than at Peña Palace. I got here at 5:30 on a Wednesday and basically had the entire place to myself. They were roping off rooms as I got closer to the end of the palace but I felt I got to see most of it. There are a couple of rooms that have really intricate detail on the ceiling that make it worth visiting

All of Sintra is gorgeous. If you want to see any attractions, get there way before 5:30PM. The palatial gardens are beautiful. Check out some of the fruits and vegetables growing in the garden. PS… There’s a 13€ buffet nearby the palace.
